The price sounds about right for a more rural property in mainland Portugal, nearer to the coast. It's a good house, I'd leave the bedrooms and put the investment into the attic. Portugal is pretty much the same as California, although the winter is harsher than southern cali, so I would keep the gardens well irrigated and clean, I see eucalyptus trees in the background so you need to keep the house safe from fires. In case of fire, turn the sprinklers on at last minute, man the hoses and make sure every window and doorway is firmly shut and keep an eye on the attic, it just takes an ember to bring down a house when it's above 38ºc. Other than this there's not much to worry about in Portugal...

when I saw the house I instantly though this must be in the silver coast area it looks amazing. I remember you mentioning that you don't have or use a car in Lisbon I have been thinking of moving to the same area. But was concerned about how I would get to Lisbon with public transport. would love to know how you will manage that. I am so jealous of the amount of fruit and veg you have grapes !!!! and for the price you paid . . . amazing ! I can't wait to see how it will all look when it is done

I would love to see a video series of your renovations! And please include info about challenges specific to Portugal - like, is it hard to source building supplies, what is the equivalent of Home Depot there, what is it like getting building permits, etc. And the bedroom floors are so pretty! Are you sure you don’t want to keep them as-is? 😀

It's incredible how you managed to save a lot of money by simply moving away from Lisbon. There for this price you would get a studio or a 1 bedroom apartment, and you managed to get a huge hou with two kitchens and an awesome back yard and also an amazing entrance. I also wonder who the previous owner was because it seems like he meant to rent the upper half of the house while living in the lower floor which is a very smart idea. Thank you for this video and for all your content in general 😊🙏🏻🙏🏻

It is very typical for portuguese houses to have the upstairs being the "formal home" but live everday life dowmstairs only. The upstairs is usually only used for holidays and in some cases to sleep, if there aren't enough bedrooms downstairs.

When is the best time to plant a tree? Twenty years ago. When is the second best time to plant one? Now. If you want an avocado tree, it only takes about a day to go to the plant nursery, buy the tree, and plant it. If you wait a year or two till the interior renovations are done, you will delay the maturity of the tree and fruit harvest from it by that amount.

I am really into gardening, so I would focus on the garden and getting that chicken coop going for the manure. It's how I have worked on my home. But, people have different priorities!

I agree! I can see where they may want to paint or decorate the house to their liking but the floors, the kitchen, etc., looks good already. Maybe evidence of disrepair that's not showing up in the vid to us? Otherwise I'm not getting it. The house and everything else looks beautiful! (Except for the attic, of course.)

Going through the top floor, everything looked in such good condition I couldn't figure out why you would want to rip it our! The wooden floor was gorgeous as was the kitchen cabinets. I like wood cabinets, but I know that isn't everyone's taste. Very nice property.

Every renovation TV show, rips out great interiors to replace things with styles they'd likely rip out if they found it in another property. Waste of money.

@@ItsYomo the Silver Coast is a long stretch of the Portuguese coast, north of Lisbon. If they moved to, let's say, Peniche, they are 45 minutes away from Lisbon. They can be closer or farther away.

Hello. I never understand how some videos pop up, but yours did. I had to watch. I find your home beautiful. A lot of home actually for the $$. I, myself, wish to downgrade. I don’t have kids though. It’s just 2 of us. A piece of land (smaller, but just as beautiful as yours) and a tiny home (kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom) would be a dream come true. Good luck with everything. Sending you positive vibes from the U.S. ❤️

The bedroom floors look great, consider keeping them. Would love this to be a series!!!! I have three questions: 1. Will you live in the house while you renovate? 2. Would you ever put in a pool? 3. Could the attic maybe be a airbnb situation in the far future? 🤔 anyways love this, love yall, congratulations!!
