Disconnect the neg battery terminal when things set for a while. They will not run down if tops are clean and they will last many times longer. The few minutes it takes is much cheaper than replacing multiple large batteries.

Farming in the early 80’s had a 1/4 of canola before Round Up ready. That looked good but didn’t fill a tandem. I know the feeling.

You mentioned that you have a field that is compacted and I know you guys generally are all (No Till) but when dealing with a field that you know is pretty heavily compacted do you guys ever do even just some shallow vertical ripping to try to loosen it up which will allow rain water and melting snow in the spring to go more easily down into the soil.

The tractor that leaks fuel back to tank why not fit electric fuel pump it really smartens up the starting of old equiptment use this method often with forestry equiptment works a treat saves on starters and batteries but also huge benefit at fillter change those electric pumps really chase the air out of system

I like the idea of having a set of tractors. One of each series. I'm wanting to do the same with Allis Chalmers D17 tractors. I have a series 4 want another 4 with loader and a series 1, 2, and 3 D17 as well. Plus a D19.

We've done it both ways, no toll and till the snot out of it. Basically rain makes it work and no rain makes it fail. We've done over 5,000 crp acres in the past 20 years.

It's land that is put in a government program called the Conservation Reserve Program. Or CRP. The farmer gets a small rent payment from the government for not farming the land and just leaving it for the wildlife.

Insurance makes up for the losses. Farming is either a win, or break even (unless, of course, you can't budget)

@@lynwessel2471 welker farms recieved over 2 million dollars in government subsidies since 1995. Insurance pays out if crop loss is less than 85 of farm average.

@@snowblind. insurance is based on your 10 year yield average. You can buy 85,80, 75, 70, or 65% coverage based on what you feel you can afford. When you have multiple poor crops in a row, your coverage is significantly reduced because your yield average has declined. Farm program payments for low price years are unrelated to crop insurance.
