My kiddo was recently diagnosed as celiac and we've already dealt with skepticism because of the "gluten free as a diet" folks.

I'm intolerant and when someone says "oh those gluten free cookies are healthier anyway" I just want to scream "no Karen they are not it just means I can digest them without my body reacting like I have food poisoning. They still have zero nutrition and sometimes have more sugar and fat!!"

In regard the low FODMAP for IBS - wouldn't the "gluten free" products that have gluten removed still have the sugar chains that cause issues?

I appreciate not wanting to demonize gluten. What I wouldn't give to be able to eat home made Italian bread again. One thing that bothers me here though is you just talk about those with Celiac. There are those of us who are intolerant but don't have Celiac. I get food poisoning symptoms when eating gluten not to mention my migraine symptoms go down. I already get people treating me like I'm crazy for "suddenly having issues". It would be great if you had a bit more nuance. This was diagnosed with my Doctor in 2014. Trust me I did not want to go gluten free I come from an Italian back ground

Great feedback, thank you! You're absolutely correct. I appreciate nuance in nutrition and should have done better on that.

Lots of food that are gluten free contain added gluten. Stop trying to be smart 🛑 ✋🏽 and some people have non celiac gluten sensitivity
