Walking through the northern mountains of Guadalajara you will find these towns of yesteryear, many already forgotten, only clinging to oblivion by a sad wall protected by a bramble. To not fall, to not forget, so that that adventurous traveler can still imagine.
But there are towns that seem to resist oblivion, towns that rise from the rubble to give us all their splendor. Umbralejo is still firm, still alive, open to anyone who wants to walk through its alleys and enjoy an environment surrounded by magical nature.
Umbralejo was completely depopulated in the 70s along with many towns in the area that suffered the same fate, but destiny had another idea for this small village. Thus, in 1984 it entered the Recovery Program for Abandoned Towns, allowing students from schools in urban areas to enjoy an experience of getting closer to rural areas.
