Pro tip #1: Never use a flat headed screwdriver to separate a component at it's sealing surface. Doing so risks damaging the surface. Pro tip #2: Always give stated torque specs the sanity check. Compare what's documented with the a fastener torque table to insure you are tightning to the proper value. There's nothing I hate more than stripping a hole in a component that's going to result in the teardown of an engine or trying to dig a bolt out of a hole where it's broken off flush.

You should always replace the pilot bearing no matter if it looks good or not as you will have to redo the entire job if it goes bad before the new clutch end... :-( and the reason as to why you snap that bolt is because you have to put pressure on the finger to release the pressure... usually you need a specialist tool to do it or you can make your own... and it is 70nm
@normalguysupercar
2 жыл бұрын
No it's not 70nm. Confirmed with Lamborghini tech
@wurlyone4685
2 жыл бұрын
That's a bummer on that bolt snapping. Looks like an M6-ish bolt? If so that would be in the range something like 11-20Nm, nothing more! If a torque spec in a manual doesn't look right, it's worth doing a quick sense check against a table of standard torque specs for that size and grade of bolt. The manufacturer spec might be different from standard for a good reason, but it won't be *massively* out of the 'standard' range of torque spec. (And also if no torque spec is given in manufacturer manual, go with the 'standard' spec from the table :) ). Great recovery from that situation though, well done!

At some point I just started using the torque specs from my NSX's manual for the same size thread-pitch/diameter bolt into the appropriate material (e.g. threaded into AL).
