Best excursion in Ketchikan is flightsseeing Over the misty fjords. We have been on several Alaskan cruises. For this we went off the ship and found the flight seeing and bargained the man down For the last two seats on the small plane, seaplane, which landed on a lake. Beautiful. On a cruise like this pick One expensive excursion that involves helicopter or a small plane so you can see what it's like to fly over the beautiful scenery and maybe land on a glacier or somewhere. Then for the other ports, pick one whale watching, and one port where are you walk around the town such as Skagway, and maybe do a bus trip out into the wilderness or go to a salmon bake too. That way you've hit the high points and it's not costing you too much. Definitely book excursions off the ship to save money.

One thing to bear in mind with both Alaska and Hawaii is that cost of living is VERY high as compared to mainland US (maybe due to cost of getting supplies to those areas?). This probably impacts cost of excursions pretty significantly.

Great vlog guys! My father graduated HS in Juneau and he always remarked about the extraordinary cost of living. I think he said a gallon of milk or a dozen eggs were around $7-10 each. Their house was just a mile from the glacier in the 1980’s, so him and his siblings would swim in the glacier water every summer. The glacier has receded significantly since then, but that was a huge source of their memories and love for the land. They would fish at 3:00am in the midnight sun during the summer, too.

Thanks for sharing your cruise on Norwegian. We just returned from our Alaska trip-land and sea on Holland America line. HA has their own hotels and resorts, together with Princess cruises. We were fortunate with great weather. Started the land tour in Anchorage, took a train to Denali, toured by bus to Fairbanks, flu Fairbanks to Dawson. Explored Dawson gold mining area with visit to dredges from 1910. Experienced some gold excavation, from Dawson we went to Whitehorse . Denali we explored the national park, saw moose, sheep and a bear. Our last stop was Skagway prior to boarding the ship. Visited old town and the rainforest park above the city, visited the old Whore house, and the miners cemetery. I advise to all who enjoy walking, check out the local trails prior to booking excursions. Happy travels!

The Alaska cruise season is only about 6 months out of the year so they have to make their money while they can. We did an NCL whale watching tour on a yaught (only 8 people and 2 crew) for about $300 in 2021. It was in September and we saw a ton of whales and sea lions. You were really too early in the year and the whales were still migrating from Mexico (another great place to see them in the winter). Enjoyed your vlogs!

Over 5 years time and 10 thousand miles, I saw 1 bear and her cub through binoculars. Yes, they are very hard to spot. My brother lived there and I would visit him every summer. We spent almost every day of our vacation driving. I was fortunate enough to have seen almost every area of the state. When clouds set in they can stay for many days. Clouds can hide a lot of scenery. Short vacations to Alaska aren't recommended, you can miss a lot. I spent from 2 to 5 weeks each time over 5 years and traveled about 10,000 miles. The most beautiful area is the Arctic. You can take a road North of Fairbanks that parallels the pipeline. It is probably one of the most beautiful drives in the world.

You're Alaska videos are great. Thanks a lot. The whale tours are a "hit or miss" -- sometimes you see lots of them; other times none (depends on the time of year and their migration). And the laws are pretty strict about how close your boat can get to them. The most whales I've seen at one time was just off St. John's, Newfoundland (a terrific city, IMO).

What an awesome adventure / Cruise Alaska looks stunning the Beauty of the views all around 🥰 Such a shame you didn’t get bit more time to see the wildlife, thats indeed quite a price for excursions Though planning a Trip like this , is a one in a life time for many , so they save well to Really go full out . again Alaska does depend i think a lot on the Tourist season The more cruises the Beter 😅 Thank you For taking us a long really enjoyed it so much . Have a Good week 🥰

Thanks for the tour. Check the labels of your T shirts. Made in China? I always check labels and try to buy local Big question. Alaska or Norway?😊
