I really can’t stand 90% of Instagram fitness models, as many of them aren’t knowledgeable and are spreading inaccurate and dangerous info. With that said, it’s still nice seeing people wanting to get more fit. I’ve been lifting for about 25 years now and as I rapidly approach 50, I’m very glad I started up ‘cause it really does help you stay young. 😁
@bruhuamf7372

hey man, im really curious how gym affected your life, do you think you feel better(healthier, look younger, mental health, etc.) than other ''average'' people of your age? by average i mean people that dont do much sport
@SeanShimamoto
4 жыл бұрын
Crackhead Tony The gym has absolutely affected my life, and in both quantifiable and quantifiable ways. I have male friends of all diff activity levels that are also in their late 40s. Many of the sedentary ones get winded when we’re just walking up 5 flights of stairs...they complain about aches and pains (not from injuries)...they’re often tired and lethargic...when I’ve helped them move house, I often have to lift the heavier items ‘cause they either get winded quickly and/or they’re not physically capable of lifting things (I’m only 5’5” 140 lbs.). So those are in qualifiable ways...but it’s also in quantifiable ways. I started lifting ‘cause 30 years ago, I was 40 lbs overweight and my cholesterol was already over 200...and when you’re in your late teens, your cholesterol is supposed to be below 175. High cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease, strokes, kidney failure, and diabetes all run in my family (dad had 3 heart attacks, a stroke, my mom had kidney failure & 2 hip replacements...and they both had high cholesterol/pressure and had diabetes), and my bro (4 years younger) has high cholesterol/pressure...so when my blood work comes back every year, my MD always asks me if she can share my numbers with her other patients ‘cause she rarely sees some of the numbers that I have, like my HDL is 70 (normally it’s around 35-50) and she said she almost never sees it that high [HDL, high density lipoproteins, is your “good” cholesterol]. Anyways, I’ll always be a proponent of exercise, and anyone can get/be active and you can start at ANY age...I do recommend that people talk with their MD before starting an exercise regimen though. I’m also very much against any diets...I’m old school, one of the first things we learnt in my food science courses at university is that there are no bad foods, all foods offer some sort of benefit. Ergo, the best strategy is to allow yourself to eat all the foods that you love, just in moderation...that way you never crave things and it can be a lifelong thing. Food logs are where to start ‘cause we often eat for more than we think, especially in western societies where food is abundant. My friend was 340 lbs. when he came to be for advice...he did food logs all week, emailed them to me on Sundays, I’d review them, put my notes, and email them back and he’d make the adjustments on his end for the next week. After 10 months, he dropped to 244 lbs. (lost 96 pounds) by simply changing his dietary intake....since he was his dying father’s caretaker while also working 50 hours a week, fitting in exercise wasn’t feasible. Anyways, I hope that helps. Also wanted to wish you a Hauʻoli Makahiki Houª from downtown Honolulu!!! 🎊💥 🧨 ª - “Happy New Year” in Hawaiian

Crackhead Tony You’re very welcome, Tony. I wish you the best on your journey...just remember that you can achieve whatever you’re willing to work for...and that a 6-pack and being ripped isn’t necessary, it’s just superficial. 😁 I’ve never had a 6-pack, and I have no desire to have one ‘cause the only way I’d get it is if I got really strict with my diet...and I love food too much! 😝

As a personal trainer, I know how difficult it is to have a client suddenly change their whole diet and lifestyle. As someone that trains everyday, eating a burger or two is FINE. I ate 3 burgers in a row with my personal trainer buddies last week, the guys had 5 each, we smashed a workout afterwards, the pump was amazing and my strength was out of this world. Eat. But make good choices and listen to your body. The more you restrict yourself, the more chance you have of binging. Relax and remember this is life, its more than chicken rice and broccoli. Train, eat food you love, and live life. Dont be too hard on yourself then feel bad about it. Happy 2020. Everyone

Can you believe Jeff Logan was 260lbs as an 18 year old and he got up to 307lbs he wasn’t fat he was a beast at only 5’10” but he didn’t want to have health problems with his heart so he decided to actually lose all that weight and get down to 205 shredded. Really smart and inspirational not to mention he was going to be a pro football player but didn’t and got depressed and homeless and started eating what ever he wanted while still training and one day he decided to be truly healthy his whole life changed he has videos from when he was 18 here on YT, his story is so inspirational he’s only 31 now

Would love to see one of these fitness makeover vids with a trained fitness professional. Watching the form on some of these exercises and hearing the psuedo-science being promoted is kinda scary. I spent years training with body builders and aesthetic competitors who made money as "personal trainers", and I lost weight and got cut but also developed bad form and repetitive injuries that I'm still recovering from. I now work with a NASM certified trainer who's also a kinesiologist, and the difference in knowledge and results is HUGE. People, please don't take advice from trainers who are trying to sell you products in addition to their services. Also, trainers may know their own bodies but can't possibly know yours without proper education. Spend your money wisely; you only have one body. 💪
