"up to" is always complete bs when talking batteries (you should be very aware of that) weight of rider, seasons etc , i'm estimating at worst.8 miles at best 12 miles per charge IF the battery is a 500 watthour unit. IP65 essentially means better than splash proof (ingression protection) which is why for EU / UK you need to buy IP65 to be a darn sight more certain it will handle puddles & driving rain. in the uk when fingers are pulled out (announced whilst QE2 was still upright) but bugger all legalisation since. 15 mph is a bit too slow here in the uk countryside,Ifeel safer going faster (which i cannot on my pure scooter)

I think in an accident he'd end up with a honeycomb tyre print on his forehead. LOL... It's a bit Gaston Lagaffe isn't it? I can see the praticalities of these scooters, but they scare me to death. I remember when we were in Périgueux once we had one cause a long traffic jam going down a steep narrow winding road. Another time we had one coming towards us a full speed on the wrong side of the road(!) There needs to be somesort of regulation really, to keep everyone safe. Wouldn't want to fall off one at 30kph. Most of the time that's less than a mile and I just didn't see carrying around a heavy scooter. They are not very cheap, but super sturdy. In the UK that scooter is illegal to ride on the pavement and you would be required to have it registered, taxed, insured and the rider would need to have completed a CBT course and have at least a provisional licence and helmet. Same applies to electric bikes that do more than 15.5mph. Of course, the police don't bother to enforce the legislation so they are ideal for villains.

Its the dickheads - like the one that shot past me yesterday at 40+mph - I have the problem with and the illegal e-scooters (which is all of them bar the rental ones in certain trial areas). I guess it would be easier for the police to identify the illegal scooter than the illegal ebike (unless its going along at 40mph) if they could be bothered. It does give the legal ebike rider a bad name though, which is not justified.

@@mrfill9999 No you fail to see, so i'll say it again, there are plenty of illegal fleet owned pedelecs operating illegally in cities delivering food items for the big companies, riders rent them mostly some buy them, all part of the decarbonisation, aren't we green BS that wins them plaudits. 15.5 mph is the uk max motor speed for both uk ebikes ((pedelecs)) & e-scooters alike for consideration on uk roads *that law which hasn't happened yet, delayed, obfuscated on, allowing councils to hoover up cash though licensing agreements with companies who have exclusive rights & anyone else is ILLEGAL AS F+++ Plenty of morons in cars, lorries, pushbikes, motorcycles etc, ..sadly the ego often outsizes the brain, I'm a normal polite road user (non perfect, forget or fudge up momentarily, we all do from time to time) the speeding issue / recklessness needs hitting hard, regardless of mode of transport, singling out a dunce of an escooter rider whilst failing to highlight idiots in other vehicles close passing, pavement parking et al ,,,all that hardly is fair & fails to give context, the problem stems from the driver / rider so we mustn't fixate on 1 tech bad, ...it takes eyes off the ball as to when will legislation for conscientious riders & owners to be allowed to ride legally & where, TBH 15mph is a bit slow in the countryside, & a liability when swerved around by cars at speed, ..the same premise as to why mopeds are no longer a teens first mode of transport, danger presented by other road users to a vulnerable fellow road user. I used my IP65 (not many are) 8 inch inflatable tyres escooter & ride it well, I havedecades of experience on snowboards so positioning is not a problem, something that many casual escooter users (hire riders) don't set themselves up for thus upping the ante on crash / injury / reckless riding (not many kids ride bikes these days nor take a cycling proficiency test for example) ..covid created a backlog to driving lessons, & bookings of both elements of a driving license, electric car instructors are rarer than rocking horse poo, ..another govt fail (even van hire firms are shifting to electric before our govt wallahs even think about it) Low cost transport (& these batteries are not long distance beasts) is a must, these could play an important part in getting cars off roads, but govt does us no favours. Generationally if we want to change then we need to move our backsides here or we consign another generation to cars for everything. The naff handlebar is part of the problem with "stiff stability" on escooters, it ought be more like an mtb handlebar, the naff design creates a problem with leaning & positioning, signalling a turn etc. Luckily bluetooth indicators are cheap from china or rip off "uk design" for around £70 for bar end lights, pretty useless, but cheapo chinese bluetooth units can be stuck on a small hoop frame to flash from the rear, (bar end flashers are often obscured by the riders body) Bike riders are generally covered by house insurance (traditionally) no reason for an escooter that is to an accepted standard should not be included in that. I am way less vulnerable on a pedelec maxxing out motor (cut out speed) at 15.5mph as most people can cycle faster using it to get up to a hill / a good early assist off the lights, & through the gears to take over & push it manually into 22-25mph area at which point cars treat you differently as you are cracking along at a fair pace so they tend to react differently (better) in my experience, the speed limit for road use of an escooter ought be 20 as it starts to get a bit more respect & not pushed out of the way so much, I feel more prone at 15.5mph on a scooter than my ebike, we need a decision road or pavement (& there aren't necessarily pavements everywhere in the countryside, more grass verges than paths) the illegal everywhere is hindering progress & uptake of alt transport, we had less of an issue with the sinclair C5 nearly 40 years ago! If you want to see something stupid, look into how long it took for LED cycle light to become legal (hint they came into common use in the mid 1990's but it was around 2004?? the govt of the day finally made them legal, we carried the same risks of prosecution from the police for that piece of fog / night cutting tech too! i'm seeing more gvt obfuscation in a climate emergency here too. I look forward to riding just as carefully legally on my escooter as I do on a snowboard or an e-mountainboard hitting 40+ mph, lets blame the a-hole not the tech, for every law breaker there are a lot of regular folk out there, scooters are still selling, making rules harder to set & standardise, ...a dumb move that is unlikely to change any time soon. My daughter who left the house before 7 am to walk to the country bus to get to school & be back by as late as 7pm could have knocked hours off her exhausting day by being able to use an e-scooter to catch a bus in the town a few hours earlier, she has mobility problems, so last mile independence likely would have meant better results, same at university, hilly country, off campus buildings dotted around, ...short shop trips for a loaf & some milk, car left at home, in 6 months I put just shy of 100 miles on ours popping out, riding to the pub & walking back, shopping etc, useful? definitely has potential for getting people to work & back, & socialising more. Easier to lug up stairs than a bike too (esp an ebike)
