"We Will Not Be Oppressed" invites you to imagine a world of belonging. Watch sixth graders in Petaluma, CA in action with GRAMMY-winning Alphabet Rockers in a creative arts workshop exploring systems of oppression and the student’s collective power to make change.
Each student imagined a tool to dismantle oppression, drawing and embodying its impact. Featured artist Roza Do invites us all to declare, "I am a powerful changemaker, and I will not be oppressed." As we say it and believe it, we create a vision of a future where we all belong.
As a powerful changemaker, what world can you envision? Step into a realm where your dream is essential to becoming reality. Join us and echo the call: "We Will Not Be Oppressed."

LYRICS:
Imagine if you could create a tool that could end oppression?
You know you're powerful, right? And that you can make change?
Oppression is a big word, and it has a lot of parts… It’s like a machine with many gears… It's in our society, our daily lives. And it’s working all the time, even if you can’t touch or see it.
But so are we! What if we designed a tool to break that machine?
See, Oppression is power and prejudice. It’s control in an unjust way. It’s not fair. I bet you can name a few forms of it.
Racism, Sexism, classism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, Xenophobia…
The machine of oppression - it’s got gears of power. Which hurt some of us, and benefit others. Just like bias.
Interlocking, interconnected, and intersectional, oh-oppression keeps building. Feels almost TOO big.
But ya know… YOU have big ideas. I do too.
I say it like this: I am a powerful changemaker and I will not be oppressed.
Can you say it? I am a powerful changemaker and I will not be oppressed.
YOU can imagine the future as a place where we belong. So… Can you imagine a tool that could break these systems of oppression?!
What is your tool and what does it do to make change?
As a powerful changemaker, what can you IMAGINE?
