Do you often get comments or questions when out and about? I would personally love seeing people casually dress in historical fashion! Never seen it in Miami(: I could totally picture it in New England-it would look so cute with the older architecture from that time!

I recommend bernadette banner’s video called “why are you dressed like that” featuring other historical dress youtubers rachel maksy and morgan donner. They talk about what it’s like to dress the way they do in public and the “levels” of historical dress they do (going all out vs incorporating some elements). Pretty interesting if you wanna give it a watch!

I don't know about somebody who wears full historical outfits all the time, but I tend to wear archaic clothing or just clothes that don't fit the norm, like my winter cloak. I think I get about two comments per 3-4 trips out of the house, usually just like "I like your cloak."

I live in Boston and went to Target to run errands the other day dressed fully Edwardian (including an over the top hat with fake birds and bird nest on it that I made to be more period appropriate). I had two elderly men tell me I was dressed beautifully, but no one else really said much. I did get some looks and smiles though.

@@caileyrookids I love and have made cloaks, for somer reason, people STEAL them, from me and from my daughters. Grrrr. My youngest daughter wore her black satin, purple brocade lined reversible cloak with an attached ruched hood, ALL of the time. ( As a ballet dancer it was perfect for her to feel at ease in, to wrap herself up in..) It too was stolen by someone.

somewhere around here there's a picture of my grandmother's sister wearing a dress really similar to the first white dress with the green trim, and I kinda love seeing a version of it "in life" on a person. I kinda want to try to make one myself now because i've always liked the look of her dress but never had a good idea what the back might look like from the way the photo is, and yours is giving me ideas.

The navy dress needs some trim or something to set off the navy. Personally I would vote for SILVER touches but your choice.... Something at the waist & something around the bodice or neckline for sure. You could do an optional thin vertical line down both sides of the skirt's front opening. PS. Other trim colors could be rose pink, white, or maybe coral - but I think silver is the classiest.

If you wear a linen chemise underneath, you don't have to wash the top clothing as much. That is why they did wear chemises in the past. The linen stays clean by itself a long time, and takes the body oil and what ever so it doesn't get into the top clothing. That way your top clothing stays beautiful a lot longer, washing it wears it out fast. Linen you can wash the hell out of, it is very strong.
