If so, what is a "centrist" democrat? @Driver 1967 Seriously! Why do you look for flaws? Did you even listen and understand anything she spoke about in this interview? Are you so perfect ? Have you ever spoke a sentence that came out differently than what you intended? These comments are distracting and take away the focus on the important issues at hand. Please try to pay attention to what is going on in our country and what we need to do about those issues. They are extremely important and she has enough factual knowledge about those issues that it seems foolish to me that you would even comment negatively about her, especially if you have watched almost all of her interviews.

Someone who disagrees with you is not automatically stupid. I am sure you will call me that or worse because I have a different opinion than you. I don't agree with alot of the GND, I actually agreed a lot with the gentleman who was on the panel, who was a moderate Republican. But try to understood how Government works rather than sling ignorance. People come up with a plan, a different side maybe comes up with a competing plan, it all gets debated, it gets amended, and changed and hopefully evolves into a plan that represents a compromise for different stakeholders where no one gets everything they wanted but they get some of what they want. And the Country can move forward on solving the problems. It's so easy and facile to libel the first plan, to lie and mislead about it rather than coming up with a competing plan. But that is EXACTLY what the GOP does, and it's not helping solve our problems at all. AOC is a millennial. Those are the people who will be most impacted by climate change. It is also a generation whose economic expectations are lower than their parents. As a millennial, she is advocating for her stakeholders' best interests, as she should. They can't control them. And they feel like if those women are successful, they - men - aren't attractive anymore unless they're equally as successful as the women they want (which is true actually). They want to go back to the days where men were inherently worth more than women so they didn't need to aspire to anything yet they could still have the women. It's all rather pathetic really. The only people that lose from women's empowerment are those who don't aspire to anything and expect to maintain their privilege and feel that it's dreadfully unfair that they can't. Everyone else wins. Everyone.

The world is warming. There are many kinds of evidence: air temperatures, ocean temperatures, melting ice, rising sea levels, and much more. Human activities are the main cause. The warming is not natural. It is not due to the sun, for example. I 100% agree with the Airline person. Trump keeps talking about sending coal miners back to work, but machines have replaced many of those jobs. We should honor our coal miners with free training in a vocation that they can use their personal talents and be productive again and if they are near or at retirement let’s take of them in their old age, not just abandon them like we do our veterans. These people gave America the power to live comfortable and productive lives, it’s the least we can do for them and the sacrifices they made in the dark dirty mines.

Here’s a novel idea: I think that AOC should create and build a media platform. Maybe a KZitem channel. That is, a platform for her to promote her message and counter the Fox News narrative. Bernie Sanders has done this. Elizabeth Warren has done this, though less successfully. But AOC is far more interesting and photogenic. I think that as a political tool this could be a huge deal. That way she has some ability to drive her own narrative. There is no Democratic Socialist equivalent to Fox News. Maybe there should be.

@buffalo.blackk

@@jvhee TYT is great. They are obviously not adequately counteracting Fox News, however. Also, TYT is not a Democratic Socialist organization. Also, AOC is not having day-to-day or even any input on editorial decisions at TYT. She is clearly interested in pushing for specific legislation and policy agenda (GND, M4A, etc) every single day that she may want daily videos addressing specific policy ideas. TYT is a news org. They are reactive to news, much of which is not about AOC. A video platform by AOC would be proactive. Also, she may want to respond directly to her critics on her in her own words as often as she chooses. TYT can never do this the way an in-house media organization could do for her. Again, see Bernie's KZitem channel as a model. In 3 years and 10 months, he has 180K subscribers. With AOC's media savy, she could easily outpace that in a year or 2. She's got 3.7M followers on Twitter in 8 months. And then on top of this, TYT could continue to champion other Justice Dems like AOC to create a larger JD caucus.

One side comes up with a plan, the other side or sides come up with competing plans. Then both the House and the Senate work their own versions,.both of which should go thru study at the committee level. It takes time and study and ideally eventually they come up with a plan that represents some wins for all sides while addressing the problem. In other words the GND is a proposal to start the ball rolling on solving both climate and economic problems. But the GOP could care less about our problems, as shown by their total lack of a plan. The upward trend in the Antarctic, however, is only about a third of the magnitude of the rapid loss of sea ice in the Arctic Ocean. The new Antarctic sea ice record reflects the diversity and complexity of Earth’s environments, said NASA researchers. Claire Parkinson, a senior scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, has referred to changes in sea ice coverage as a microcosm of global climate change. Just as the temperatures in some regions of the planet are colder than average, even in our warming world, Antarctic sea ice has been increasing and bucking the overall trend of ice loss “The planet as a whole is doing what was expected in terms of warming. Sea ice as a whole is decreasing as expected, but just like with global warming, not every location with sea ice will have a downward trend in ice extent,” Parkinson said."""" Orion Anderson The problem is that this resolution does not effectively address the concerns of a massive energy transition, and in multiple situations conveys misleading information. For example the GND does not specify what energy sources it specifically plans to use, which makes it impossible to create legitimate policy for planned energy sector capacity additions. Additionally the GND says its for clean, renewable and zero emission energy sources, but then only lists renewable capacity additions. That’s extremely misleading because Nuclear and carbon captured fossil fuels fall under zero emission energy. The situation gets even more convuluted when co-sponsors of the resolution have come out saying its 100% renewable plan and there was an initial FAQ page calling for the elimination of fossil fuels and nuclear energy. However New Consensus, which is the think tank behind the resolution proposals has stated that all energy sources are on the table. THATS CONTRADICTING INFORMATION
@brian2440
5 жыл бұрын
Orion Anderson Now why is this important? Because in the scientific community there is a massive debate on 100% renewable versus renewable + sustainable energy transition plans, with the majority of studies NOT in favor of 100% renewable. Additionally ZERO of these existing 100% renewable studies support a 10 year timeframe, and there is already existing published feasibility analysis on Decarbonization plans including 100% renewable by 2050, which finds that 100% renewable in 30 years is statistically improbable. The GND provides zero references, data or additional information that would allow someone to conclude that it’s timeframe is actually possible. If you look at the grand majority of scientific interviews on this timeframe for deployment most scientists and engineers believe it is woefully infeasible.

As air temperatures rise around the world in the desert and already warm regions, airliners as they are currently designed and exist will lose "lift." The aerodynamic ability of fixed wing aircraft works better in/on cold dense air. Hot thin air, not so much. The consequenal threshold is not as far away as one would think, so high air temps will start to ground aircraft in the not so distant future anyway.
