I'm not a designer but the bad example was too obvious in the way it can be solved. It'd be great to see something far more challenging, something that shows how more people clicked on the site because of the redesign maybe. It'd be great to see too how a redesigned site worked based on a Hotjar report, perhaps? Thanks
@MarkFaamaoni
3 жыл бұрын
I disagree. If it were "obvious" then the original bad design wouldn't have happened in the first place, and there wouldn't be copious examples of the exact same thing happening all over the net. The solution, in hindsight, was pretty obvious. But the lessons here (give the hero image room to breath, follow basic design fundamentals) cannot be repeated enough. And you aren't going to be able to do hotjar reports on a redesign that is probably sitting on the designers hard drive. This isn't a live site. I think you've completely missed the point of the exercise here.
@denniszenanywhere

@@MarkFaamaoni Let's agree to disagree. It was obvious to me perhaps because I found it easy, being exposed to many designs. But your point about the Hotjar is correct. I was thinking out loud with the Hotjar thing as I found the problem-solution too obvious and was craving for more.

You shouldn’t redesign based on your feelings. Rather you should collect user data, record interactions of the user, analyze Google Analytics data and based on that, your design should be created. Positioning UI elements etc.

But what if you don't have this data? It's also knowledge and experience. The text was first unreadable and the menu spacing was too much. He even explains what is wrong because he looks at the website like a user.
@dougsilkstone
3 жыл бұрын
@@djjoy1 For a tutorial, it's wicked but in reality, we should be researching and engaging with users to obtain that data because it's the most robust way to creating usercentric products that people actually use. Experience and intuition plays a part but we should be able to prove our hypotheses, not just act on them - this comes with qualitative research and design thinking.

Subject: Best E-commerce Website Design for 2020 Hey Ran, I love your videos and have learned quite from it. But i found that you said for all checkout pages that they are pretty normal/standard/boring. So can you show us 1 or 2 example of how would you design the checkout page as per you or if you have made any e-commerce website for a client that you can show us. Cause i as an developer Can develop many ways for check out but in most of the cases clients wants to stick with the standard designs. And i would really like to see your perspective and design of an checkout process. The reason am asking you to give examples is the reason i subscribed to your channel which is you lead by example that's what a true leader does and i too believe in that. God bless you bhai. Lots of love, Ravi from India. P.S: bhai means bro in Hindi.

The redesign is done well but Ran missed the whole aspect of “telling the story”. This is what can happen when you focus only on the aesthetic choices being made on a website, you miss the whole point! I noticed on the label of the bottle it says “CBD derived from hemp”, Ran - this is more than a “relaxing drink” this is MEDICINE proven to help treat those with seizures, anxiety disorder, etc. I like the approach to changing the raw design itself to improve the experience, but the purpose of UX is to articulate the purpose of a product, I think that was missed in this redesign.
