Here's why your wedding day videos stand out above the rest. There are tons of "behind the scenes" or "day in the life of a wedding photographer" "full wedding day", and those videos are like 15 minutes long. You're cutting out a TON of stuff that most of us are looking for. I feel like people like me are watching these videos because we want to see the in between stuff, we know how a wedding ceremony goes, what are you doing in the down time or the transitions? you are the man. thank you, john.

Hey, I still get anxiety before weddings, but what I’ve found that always helps and work is getting there early. I’m not sure what you plan to cover for this wedding, but if you can get some pre-ceremony shots in, this would help get the jitters out. What I find is that, when I start shooting and I’m dialing in the right settings and getting good shots, it builds confidence, and to me confidence is one of those intangibles that you can’t teach. Don’t feel bad if you’re not nailing each shot when you’re there early getting shots, you should have time to analyze things and get it right, but the time that you have to do this, makes a huge difference in my opinion. When you leave from wherever you are before the ceremony taking shots and you feel good about them, that momentum can follow you into the ceremony where it becomes critical to be poised and ready. I wish you the best in your first wedding shoot!

Hii! Newer photographer here and I am moving from portraits to weddings. When you talk about stopping down, I always thought (and had learned) that my F stop needed to be a higher number, like 7 or 8 for group shots, rather than the 3.2 you mention for the family portraits. Does the F stop that you can use and still be clear vary with the camera model or style (ie DSLR or mirrorless)? I'll dig through some more videos to see if there's more information that you've shared on this, but I'm so blown away that you are getting such incredible results with a very low F stop and trying to figure out how to do the same. :) That would make my life a lot easier with more light being let into the camera!
