What are your thoughts on 35mm Mode on the GFX 100s??
@josuapraiz

I dont think that the GFX 100s is made for weddings. Great camera for studio, landscape, portraits, but weddings... I am not saying tha it cannot be used for it, but the XT series does the job better. By cropping you are getting the 3:2 aspect, but on a full frame equivalent for the lens. It is a little bit strange to do such things, instead of just shooting with the XT series. But if you now have this one and want to shoot weddings with it, it is the only way.

@@josuapraiz I agree. I've shot a wedding with it and plan on shooting a couple more full GFX. It's not 100% built for weddings but it's SURPRISING how it can keep up.

@@josuapraiz What about having the GFX with the 110mm and use it as a second body for when there isn't a lot of action. Main camera something like Sony A7RV with Tamron 35-150mm 2-2.8? Or even use the GFX with a Mitakon 65mm 1.4 for that DOF.

It’s daft and you know it. I also believe lossless gives better quality than compressed, but also saves on space. This was a great run through thanks! Ignoring exposure compensation is not very impressive.

Correct me if I'm wrong but setting WB to Kelvin when shooting RAW makes no difference as you can change it later while developing them in LR/C1.

I was cool running along with this until you said to set your color space to sRGB. I can't imagine why anyone would use a camera like the 100S and not want to get the full potential of its images. Especially with weddings, where color is so important. Sure the images will go to sRGB when they go digital, but edits will look better if you started with a wider colorspace.

Awesome! That would be a great topic actually as I find not too many photographers use it on the normal. Even I myself didn’t used to use Kelvin too often.

Does anyone know if the incamera noise reduction and sharpness is still adding something set at 0. I find the gfx simply to sharp still at 0. I really think digital is to sharp now.

What would be helpful is understanding what you are seeking in terms of a "wedding setting." We get that you are setting up the camera the way you like it, but share more of the results so we can see if we want to use these settings. Thanks!

Mainly to be able to take the maximum amount of photos. This is basically my wedding setup. If I was doing studio work I would shoot it differently.

I don’t get that often but I’ve had it a couple of times. I don’t really know if there is a way to encourage them however, I do usually charge an additional fee if I’m unable to use the photos. Because of exactly what you’re speaking of. I wouldn’t be able to market my business without being able to show photos on my site.

Can I use these settings for beauty and fashion in studio?
@jbivphotography
3 жыл бұрын
You can. However in the studio I would recommend changing the color to 16bit and not shooting in 35mm mode. These settings are made to get maximum amount of photos you can take since it’s for weddings. Where as in the Studio you can always plop in a new SD card or just shoot Tethered. But other than that yes you can use all you see here if you like.

so basically the GFX is more like a bulky Fuji fullframe camera for your weddings. ALmost a waste coz its bigger, more expensive and slower than Sony fullframe. But for FUji, there is no other option so i get it. I wonder if someone has made an IQ comparison between a Sony fullframe A7R4 and a GFX100s in 35mm mode. Iso capability and DR of the GFX should take a hit in crop mode. Same as when i look at the 1.5 x crop mode images of the Sony A7r3 .

@jbivphotography

I don’t think they’re really comparable cameras. The GFX 100s is kind of in a class of it’s own and if you don’t treat it as such it doesn’t totally make sense lined up against other cameras.
