My pleasure, Brother D. Yes, I have done some work in music PR and learned how to make these connections along the way. Doing so on your behalf is my way of giving something back for all of the great music you've turned me on to over the years and the commentary you share here. Fingers crossed everything works out with Steve Hackett. I'm sure it would be another great visit/conversation. Peace, Bill from Brooklyn, NY

Steve’s been doing a lot of interviews because of his new album release, I hope you can get an interview with him, that would be cool Dereck.

Just something to throw out there: John Etheridge from Soft Machine does interviews and seems very open to discussion

Yes but I would actually have interest in speaking to Robert Wyatt.

Sadly in his retirement he hasn't done much media. But at least in the past he was willing to talk about his history with Soft Machine, unlike Ratledge/Jenkins who pretend they were never part of it (what a shame for musical history and celebration of their art). Wyatt is one of the greats 🤎

I consider Donal Byrd to be a jazz Icon, right up there with Davis and Coltrane. I first heard Byrd in college in the 80s . I bought Black Byrd LP. I played it at my dorm and all I heard from my roommate and other white boys ( I am white) is that this is "black music". My heart sank. Racism is not only ignorant but limiting.....they missed out on some wonderful Jazz. For those who are unfamiliar with Byrd's music, check him out. He has always experimented with different jazz styles, so I am sure there is an LP of his you I'll really enjoy. Cheers D.

Beato’s ability to hear every note in a complex chord is amazing to me. His ears are insane, it must be genetic cause his kids are the same.

Mostly been playing Robert Wyatt here. Dondestan, one of the more recent ones Cuckooland and a release by Cuneiform records called Robert Wyatt ’68. He has such a unique sense of melody. Love it. His singing is like listening to a beautiful strange instrument. Also, a rsd release of Miles called Turnaround got played, outtakes from the On the corner sessions or so. A really good one, in my opinion. You prob know the release. Should give that Donald Byrd album a listen. You have a good day, Dereck.
