Thank you Masaru. I still think it is possible... at the time I completely forgot the Tilta cage can be turned into a 'half-cage'. I did that and my Panasonic 12-35 now no longer requires a counterweight on the right arm. Not shown in this video but I use the Panny 12-35 in a build that uses a 970NP-F battery as a counterweight - it makes everything an 'all-in-one' tiny rig.

aNELeOnwuka if it’s turned into a half ache, won’t it still shift the weight the left? I have the full cage but if I make it to half , it’s stays on the left side of the camera, would t u still need the counter weights? I get my weebill Monday, got it fo $351 from amazon, it’s $349 on bhphoto too, great deal
@aNELeOnwuka

@@Nvrr0 It seems that way but remember - with a full cage there is all that metal around the right side of the camera and that makes you shift to the left to get it to fit. Now remove the right side of the cage and you shift everything back to the right - draw an imaginary line thru the centre of the lens and camera body... by being able to shift the camera body to the right you are ALSO shifting the lens and that is 'more' weight to the right. I can't post images but can tell you that now I've swithched to a half-cage I no longer need a counterweight on the arm of the gimbal for the Panasonic 12-35+NP-F all-in-one build I use. Also when using the clamp-counterweight moving it to the fron, middle or back of the gimbal arm changes the amount of weight on the right big time. A tiny little thing like that... one won't even think it means much until they try it. When you pack up the gimbal (obviously removing the clamp) when you setup again it has to be at the same spot or your 'balance' is off again. Now by not having to use anything on the arm at all, it's so much faster and perfect;y balanced each time. It's so much better 'seeing' what I mean, not sure I've explained it very well but hope you do get it.

Glad I got rid of the huge Crane3. Not in the video but the Tilta cage can be used as a half cage, that also helps shift things back to the right. You have a nice day.

Is there mounting points under the plate? Maybe you can use those weights there to balance it more so it doesn’t have to slide so far back
@aNELeOnwuka
4 жыл бұрын
On the Weebill-S plate = No, on the other long plate = Yes BUT that is only 'part' the issue. With the Tilta cage on I can no longer use the 'centered' holes... the screw in hole on the plate is far from the edge around 1.75cm the one on the weebill-s is probably 0.75cm In addition to that the holes under the plate on one end are not even 1/4". The 1/4" holes are almost in the middle of the plate - would never be able to put weights there. I think someone who really wants to fly this lens 'well' on this gimbal probably can. We've seen the GH5, Speedbooster and Sigam 18-35 on it. Maybe oneday in the future I might revistit this test but I doubt it.

how about balance the PANASONIC 12-35 WITH the TILTA FULL CAGE? thats the setup I intend to use, does it work? how much counterbalance does that would need? Also, i heard you can control the focus with the focus wheel by connecting the BMPCC4K to the gimbal, is that true?

I do use the 12-35 with the 'half' cage... that's one of the great things about the Tilta cage since it's actually 2 cages in one. Can't tell you how much counterbalance as I use a battery for that. Check some of the other videos like this 'How to SSD' one. Cheers. kzitem.info/news/bejne/lYKlqY1vZmJofG0

How do you focus?
@aNELeOnwuka
Жыл бұрын
There are many different ways to focus on gimbals. You can use a focus motor, most gimbals now can ‘talk’ to the lens thru the camera without a motor and you can also just set focus manually and keep the same distance to your subject. It’s really up to you ‘how’ you want to focus.

I didn't have the right parts when I made this video but balancing with a full cage, half cage or no cage is pretty simple. A half cage is far better than a full cage when it comes to the P4/4Ks on the Weebill-S. I currently use a half cage with the Panasonic 12-35. (great thing about the Tilta is that it is 2-in-1 cages) I never got the Sigma 18-35 to work without 'wobbles'... quite a few people have said they did but none of them are posting any videos. If you do get it to work 'well' give us a shout.

@@aNELeOnwuka Well I am using rokinion lenses, no sigma. But I will try to make something once I get all my parts in. I might try the full cage again (it's small rig cage) but the issue I was having was the cage rubbing up against the side of the gimbal even with the plate pushed all the way to the side. Or wait... I'm dumb, I just realized I should try mounting the plate offset. I'll have to try it when I get home..

So you need all those counter weights in order to balance it with the sigma
@aNELeOnwuka

Well yes, first the camera is so wide that you have to counterbalance it. Since making this I'm guessing with a half cage one could use less counterweights. IHowever, must say I don't think this is a viable combo for this gimbal.

Oh man, I left this gimbal a long time ago because I could never get it to work 'well' with the 18-35. It was a HUGE headache to balance properly... far too much stuff to add on. However, if you really want to; it's not 'top' weights that you need... there is a specific bottom clamp you need because it is so front heavy - the UURig R025 - amzn.to/3oSzhVs Honestly, I'd say sell up and get the Crane 2S... it is an amazing gimbal for the Pockets; even far netter than the new DJI RS2. Not the news you want to hear but if you try and it doesn't work well then save yourself from a ton of frustration. Good luck man.
