Great that you did get some nectarines! Enjoy. Your watermelon patch looks great. Excited to see what you harvest. I'm not a homesteader, but delight in watching many of you have such great successes with the challenges mother nature can give you. I continue to learn great tips for my own gardening. Thanks. Be well.

Everything looks so beautiful! Have you considered raising your watermelon's on a vertical cattle panel? Melons, cukes, winter squash and many other vine-plants will climb if you help them start up. My first experience was in the early 90's with cantaloupe melons and I thought they'd fall off but a good oldtimer friend show me that when they are green they'll stay attached well. He showed me how to hold the vine and rotate the melon to test if the melon was ready to pick. (we both liked them ripe). One's not ready just twisted the vine but the ripe ones twisted off at the point of the melon. Easy-peasy! You've both created a very beautiful garden and I thank you for sharing it with me. From Butch at Sand Hollow Idaho.

@@petebeasttexashomesteading I grew Earl Grey watermelons last year and vined them over an obelisk. I picked the small ones off areas it wouldn't support and let the ones on the ground get big. Worked good and took up less space 😃

You know watermelon vines themselves will send out roots that burrow into the ground for more nutrients and better harvest. So blocking the vines from seeping into your soil is preventing that extra boost.

Chili wedito incorrect spelling. Delicious for frying pinto beans. Soak dry beans over night then boil a few hours or use pressure cooker or start with a can of pinto beans. Separate water from boiled beans save water. Add two or three yellow chili's to fry pan with 🔥 hot oil and stir for 1 minute. Add beans minus water and fry for 3 minutes. Add water, salt and black pepper to taste. Smash in pan, blend or enjoy whole. :) Yellow chili's make refried beans 😋🤤 yummy! Thank you. Southern California U.S.A. KZitem
