Week 11 of main house framing. Merry Christmas to us, we’re now the proud owners of a 20’ scissor lift! We bought a Sky Jack SJ4620 20' tall Scissor lift for $2,200 and paid $600 for new batteries.
Covering the roof with synthetic underlayment called Titanium UDL. It is okay to be exposed to the sun for up to 6 months. It is completely waterproof and was put on to protect the roof sheathing during the winter rains.
We also paid $37,000 (total $76,000 without with mitered window), the remaining balance for the 62 window shipment and $32,000 for the roof sheathing ($204,000 total for the framing with steel work).
Steel column installation for our great room patio.
There are four steel columns that support our overhanging roof on the great room patio. Each steel column weighs approximately 500 pounds and stands 16 feet tall. The steel columns are 6x6 inch square steel tubes by 3/8 inch thick and welded to a 1 inch thick 13 inch h square steel base plate. The base plate is bolted to four 1 inch diameter 30 inch Simpson SB anchor bolts. The columns were lifted into place using a skytrak telehandler and lowered into place over top of the anchor bolts. Once the column was in place it was bolted down and then the bolts were adjusted until the column was vertical. The columns will be wrapped with wood framing and then sheathed in plywood. The final step will be to wrap the sheathing with two layers of 15 pound felt tar paper and then stucco each column.
