America, I have been following you for years, and I've never commented, but I just wanted to write to you to say that I hope you continue to stay encouraged! Don't fall into the trap of comparison. A lot of the things on your CV are unique and will make you standout to residency programs. There are not many students who have given back to aspiring medical students/the future of medicine like you have. Your KZitem channel is so important! I am in pharmacy school, but I have learned so much about what medical students go through over the years from your channel, and you guys definitely have my respect, which will translate when I do my own rotations and when I am out in practice. I wish you were not so hard on yourself, because to me, you are one of those "super people" that you used to talk about in your past vlogs. We see how hard you work, and we are really proud of you! America, you are honestly such an inspiration to me. I don’t know if you’ll ever see this, but you are literally my student goals. I’m only in the 7th grade right now and constantly thinking of the future and what I want to do with my life. The medical field is one of the things I’ve been thinking about, I excel in all subjects I’ve taken so far as well. And the reason I do that, is because I tell myself that middle school and the classes I’m taking is extremely easy compared to medical school, so if I can’t excel in this I won’t be able to get into medical school. I see how hard you work and how difficult it is to be in medical school and I push myself to be nearly as good a student as you. You are literally an inspiration to me and one of the reasons I am thinking of being a doctor. So if you ever feel like you aren’t good enough or you feel insecure about your achievements, just know you are one of the smartest and best student I know, I want to be a student like you. You truly are a role model to me and plenty of others. You’re doing great, I would love to meet you someday.

Hi America 🥰I have been watching your videos since I travelled to Canada which is more than a year and you can’t imagine how much you inspired ,encouraged and motivated me to keep going through all the hard things I was passing through and I felt that I have to write that when your talking about your awards “achievement “ and that with out you and your vlogs I wouldn’t love med school that much. I also would like to share with you a little hint of my life . I came here alone with my little sister started everything from zero :working full time looking for college ,taking care of sister, passing through stress and depression for not knowing if I will be having the grades and money to get into med school and achieve my dream...but I was always optimistic and Finally I got accepted into college “pre-unversity”that can prepare me to get into faculty of médecine. Pray for me to have the enough determination, power and motivation to do that and to get my mom over here. I would also like to thank you a lot for being a part of that... Love you a lot America and hope all success for you and hope to meet you one day as I feel that our personalities are so similar specially that crazy ,risky part that doesn’t know what you are actually doing and why😆😆🤪xxx love jory❤️

America, I normally never comment on videos but you made me so emotional when you spoke about your resume. I genuinely wish I could hug you because I see myself in you in some many ways!! I’m a senior in undergrad and sometimes I also feel very inadequate in comparison to my peers BUT we as your friends see the grit and perseverance you have in every vlog. I know you’re more than average, you’re intelligent, kind and hard working and so much more. Keep going girl!! We are all here cheering you on. Be proud of all your achievements. You are a role model for thousands of people who could potentially be your colleagues/future physicians. That is something that makes you stand out amongst your peers. We adore you. Keep you head up 😊

I appreciate your videos so much because they are about real content. I am in medical school right now and am going through so many similar emotions---feeling inadequate, average, like a failure/letdown...It is destructive to think of ourselves in such a way, but it's almost second nature for us to crap on ourselves. But to be average in a class of 150+ AND to be doing your best is an accomplishment! You highlight this reality in all of your videos---that it's OK to just try your best and be yourself. Thank you so much for reminding me about this!

You give me so much motivation to get my ass up and actually work harder on my studies. I truly admire you. Especially for how you manage to keep the balance between working, studying, having a social life, making this videos and still taking care of yourself. You are amazing.

I'm glad you're including KZitem! I think it is a fantastic addition to your resume. I think any good physician or residency program would be excited to see this about you; it really shows your personality and you've been nothing but professional on this channel, even with your goofiness! As a VERY nontraditional student myself, I have to say I've had nothing but people loving the fact that I've done things they know nothing about on my resume. It will definitely make you a unique and exciting applicant.Go rock it, girl!

Lol you said that you haven’t had many accomplishments, but you spent the last half of your video talking about all of your accomplishments on your resume. You need to give yourself more credit!! Honestly cried watching this bc I’m so proud of you! Cant believe you’re almost at the finish line 👏🏻👏🏻

It’s great to see how realistic/open you are in your vlogs. It showcases that no journey is perfect and that we as individuals have our weaknesses and strengths. To be honest we all tend to be harsh on ourselves, but you have so many things to be proud of America, and you shouldn’t compare yourself to others (although it’s understandable why you it, considering that you have to, as you said yourself, sell yourself when applying to residency). However, you should try to focus on the positives because you have impacted your subscribers (and others during your volunteer work) in such a great way! You have inspired so many people (including myself!) to reach for your dreams and work hard/try your absolute best to achieve your goals. I am so grateful for your vlogs and we are all so happy to be your subscribers, thank you for being real and staying true to yourself, and thank you for motivating us and being our inspiration ❤️

You are literally one of my inspiration. I know it is really hard but if there's someone that deserves to get into surgery it's you. You have to remember that it's not about how smart you are or accomplishments you have, but rather how curious you are and how much work you are willing to do for your dreams (without being someone you're not). Good luck! P.S.: I would love if you could speak at my school. I'm a pre-med and part of the Public Health Club Board, and pre-health club, so it will be good for us to meet you and know your story. Thank you so much! Best wishes, V.

Working on your resume really resonated with me. I am currently applying to medical school and am a registered dietitian. But my first degree is in theatre production and much of my work experience and references are from theatre. When I was applying for my dietetics internship to become a dietitian, my resume was just full of theatre stuff. I felt like the people reading my resume wouldn’t understand what any of it meant. So I had to provide detailed job descriptions and how they relate back to me being a great candidate for being a dietitian and working in health care. I focused on the teamwork, leadership, and communication aspects. Ultimately it did make me stand out! Hopefully it’ll do the same for my medical school applications.

I know what you mean when it comes to including your KZitem on a resume - for me it’s discussing my KZitem channel in general. It seems weirdly personal but you are putting it out for the world to see. Anyone who makes KZitem videos should be proud of their work! It’s a lot more difficult than people understand. Your resume sounds very well rounded to me. I think you’ll be a unique and interesting candidate for any position you’re applying for ✨✨✨

I can relate to feeling so average even when you are in a competitive program where everyone is so smart. However, that does not mean that you are mediocre instead it means that you are smart enough to be with all the smart people. That is a great accomplishment

Overall “8million views” 🤔 Sound pretty accomplished to me!😌 Keep doing what you are doing cause so many are watching & strive to be where you are EVERY DAY. I felt your sadness as you talked about ‘not being at a certain point’ or ‘not having much to show for it’. Look at how far you’ve come my love! You are a beautiful, intelligent woman so don’t compare b/c “being average” is what keeps the people going. We love you America ❤️❤️❤️
