ahh , I’m still in highschool, and being a nurse or peds nurse seems so interesting to me , it’s just the nclex exam that scares me 😬 but congrats!!

I can relate to you on so many levels when it comes to going from 0 to 100. I recently went back to work after being unemployed for 9 months and I've never been so excited to do nothing!! Everyone is on their own unique journey and we should not judge each other for feeling exhausted or overwhelmed, no matter how "small" a task may seem. You should be so proud of yourself.

omg this comment is going to make me cry!! Thank you for the reassurance. And going back to work after 9 months is soo tough, no matter what the job is. It is such a huge adjustment on your mind and body but we just have to take it one day at a time and as you said be understanding of everyone’s own unique journeys. Thank you so much and you should be just as proud of yourself!

I found out that jump-roping for 10mins has the same heart health/ cardio benefits as jogging for 30mins. I love building up my endurance with jump-roping because it is so easy and quicker growth in endurance than jogging. Good luck in everything you do!

Loved this. I graduated in December and I will be working as a pediatric nurse too! Orientation starts this week. Yikes! So excited but also so nervous. It's nice to see a fellow peds nurse going through all of the excitement and unknowns that come with being a new grad. Good luck with everything!

I LOVE that I found this account! I just started my CNA class as a requirement for nursing school this upcoming fall! My dream is a pediatric or a labor and delivery nurse! What do you have to do to get into pediatric nursing. Just focus on that specialty or separate classes! It always confuses me on if you have to do anything different if that makes sense!
@KennaKrueger

Aww thank you so much!! Congratulations and both of those specialities would be amazing to work in! For me personally I got kind of lucky because I didn’t do anything too special but it also did take me a little bit longer to find a job but that could also partially be due to COVID as well. But some things that I can think of that would definitely help you get a job quickly out of nursing school in the profession you want is being a CNA or tech at the hospital you want to work at prior to becoming a licensed RN. Another thing is to have children related jobs on your resume (for example I had babysitting and a couple tutoring jobs on mine). They never asked for letters of recommendations for me but another thing I can think of is when you start clinicals, develop a good relationship with your pediatric clinical instructor so you could possibly get a letter of recommendation from them. I also got my PALS certification before applying so that also showed my interest and dedication to pediatrics!
