As a twenty-year-old who recently began skateboarding, your videos have inspired me to push myself by doing shit that I know will be uncomfortable but that will ultimately be worthwhile for improving in the long run.

Good job man. I just found your videos a day or two ago. I’m 49 and started back skating about 6-8 months ago after over 30 years. Similar skills to you and similar struggles. But You’re probably better on ramps/transition than me, I think. I’ve binge watched some of your videos in the last day or so and I’m really enjoying them. Just keep doing them. Whatever you want to show. Your channel, your call. I like the way you’re approaching the videos and logging the process

Dude. Thanks for the positivity! Glad you're enjoying the videos and thanks for watching. I've found transition enlightening, because I never had access as a kid. The wins come quick on a mini ramp before it gets scary.

Big up man!! Glad to see you still out there shredding it! It’s so awesome seeing you go through the battles to get the trick it’s truly inspiring. By next year you’ll be popping Ollie’s in to banks no issue. ❤

Yes. Perfect sentiment. I mostly get coughs up with what I can’t do and other people can do, but if I forget about them and think about myself… it’s all good

Skating is definitely a mental health thing for me, My mental health was in a really bad place so I decided to take it up. I cannot express how much it has helped! I can definitely agree that the mental battle on some things I want to learn (like kickflips) can get me down a little but then I just have to remind myself that it just means it's going to feel that much better when I finally get it. I too have experienced flow state sessions, when I was going to hop every week and not skating anywhere else I found myself doing the same things I can already do all the time and as enjoyable as that was I felt I over did it so I'm trying to branch out a bit more. Excited to sesh telegraph hill with you soon! P.S You can definitely slash that 6ft quarter after seeing your telegraph hill slash!

Great to take stock every once in a while. I know what you mean about just enjoying the skill set you have rather than having pressure to progress. That is where the enjoyment is... but still nothing beats the feeling of battling a trick and landing it! I'd love to see you out in the streets more, its something I need to get over the anxiety of for sure.

I haven't been through the battle recently (working on that). Get too comfortable in the comfort zone.

Keep going, dude! As a 40yo skater myself (still going strong with the old crew from the mid 90s), here's some geezer's wisdom from my end: Mind your hips. Flexibility in the hips is key, for style, progress and safety. In order to maintain (or resurrect ;) this trusty swag-joint, consider training your "hip flexors", "adductors" and "hip rotators". One's gotta keep the right muscles and tendons up to snuff to avoid stick-figure mode, ya know. Matter of fact, for any type of skateboarding, so-called Type 2 muscle fibers are quite essential, they care for the quickness in our movement - and an Ollie is quite the snappy enterprise. Those Type 2 bastards degenarate early, so it's good move to keep 'em running by training them a bit. In clear terms: Invest in some muscle training and stretching routine if you wanna have a comfortable time. Godspeed Sir!

Sage stuff. I’ve been playing basketball for the last 10 years or so and lifting a bit. The hip flexors have always been a pain in the ass (arguably the knock on effects of tight HFs has been) so it’s interesting to hear someone mention them in relation to skating. I’m in the gym at least once a week and the ‘world’s greatest stretch’ is a go to for me.
