We do CNN10 after our morning announcements (we're virtual). My mentor teacher suggested that I do my read aloud as our warmup and tie it into whatever reading skill the students are learning. Teacher Twitter is awesome! So many great educators.

Great video as always Kim!! You are my favorite Teacher to watch! Would you please link your tri-color water bottle from Amazon. It’s so cute!! Also, your birthday decorations and celebration ideas were so cute, and I’m sure will be loved and appreciated. You forgot to show us the seat cover- I’d love to see it in your next video please. Thank you so much! 😊

Are class birthday celebrations a huge thing in your district?! Back in my day (lol) we never celebrated birthdays at school unless a kid came in with cupcakes or something & explicitly said, “It’s my birthday!” Confused! Like that’s a super nice thing to do, but shouldn’t be one of your responsibilities...
@rush_4719

Some children don't get celebrated at home, it's a really sweet thing for teachers to do :) It's definitely not essential, but taking 10 minutes out of your day to let a child know that they're important/valued can go a long way.
@zizzyzoot7033
4 жыл бұрын
@@rush_4719 But sometimes, celebrating birthdays at school just points out to a child what is lacking in their home. Or sometimes the family's culture recognizes birthdays in a different way (or not at all), so again, celebrating in the classroom points out that difference to a child. And what about the child who doesn't want attention drawn to them on their birthday (or on any day)? There are so many other ways to show students they are seen and valued on a daily basis, for who they are and what they are capable of, rather than honoring them on the day of their birth. Not saying that teachers don't do this, too, just that classroom birthday celebrations aren't necessary to do so, and what happens every day in the classroom has a bigger impact.

Oh my gosh, When I heard about everybody doing SEL (Social and Emotional Learning), I wasn’t sure why in the world would we need to have SEL which when I heard about my HS and everyone else doing it, literally the way of how I think or visual how it happens is where all of the girls like from the whole school cries the ENTIRE BLOCK! 🤣🤣🤣 I need to find some type of a curriculum sample or whatever and see what it is!

Try a mask with adjustable ear straps. The Amazing Grace brand on Amazon has worked really well for me. I tried the plastic insert, too (different style than the one you have), and it made my face even more hot and sweaty, plus muffling my voice, as yours had done.

My husband teaches 7th grade social studies and uses CNN10 most days. His 7th graders LOVE it & he ties vocabulary & sometimes discussion and/comprehension questions into the videos. Don’t beat yourself up about the student birthday-teachers have even more on our plates this year-I’m sure the student understood. We are still teaching virtually until at least Oct. 12th-so it’s been fun to see how in person teaching has been going for you~thanks for sharing your week!

I really like the Old Navy masks. They come in a 5 pack for like $12 and have very soft and adjustable ear straps and I feel like there’s a good amount of speaking room in the mouth area (what is 2020 that that’s a real sentence I just wrote 🤦🏼♀️😂)

Elementary In The Mitten thank you for replying! I heard you mention in your video that your mask has been hurting your ears. I’m getting ready to start 12 hr clinical shifts for nursing school and am worried about that as well! I have heard that putting a piece of gauze or a cotton ball (kind of torn apart to be more like gauze) placed behind the ears helps. I’m going to try that out. Hopefully it will help if you want to try that out!

I love my kitsch masks too! Some of mine have been tighter on the ears than my other pairs. I think they may vary a little. I also have masks from Pomchie and I really like those ones as well! They are almost like a swimsuit material and they don’t seem too tight on my ears. ☺️
