For me this is my fav Bee Gees song. I also love for whom the bell tolls and alone. Too much heaven is just beautiful too. You should really check out all the songs the Bee Gees wrote for other major artists such as Barbara Streisand, Diana Ross and Celine Dion. They really are the most incredibly underrated band of all time. Their talent is just insane.

I think this is an acknowledgment of how relationships are hard work, and a lot of times, you have to "fight" to push through and get it back on track. LOVE this song. It was so different than anything they'd ever done up to this time. Magic, I'm tellin' ya'. GREAT reaction!

This was the Bee Gee's biggest hit in the 80's. It got to #1 in seven countries, and broke into the top ten in 8 others. In America, however, it only reached #75, because American Radio Stations had effectively blacklisted the Bee Gees due to the disco backlash. Most of the best Bee Gees songs of the 80's - Heartbreaker, Chain Reaction, Woman In Love, Guilty, Islands In The Stream - were given away to other people because they couldn't get songs on the radio under their own name.

They did not give away their songs to other people because they couldn’t get played, what are you even talking about? 😂 The songs artists like Diana Ross, Dolly Parton, Barbara Streisand, Kenny Rogers, etc had written for them were specifically written _with them in mind._ Barry even went out of his way to write and sing said songs in a similar style to the artists on the demos he recorded. After the disco era Robin and Barry did their own thing for a bit, with Maurice dividing his time between both, because they wanted to chill and take their music in a different direction after the full-on nature of their career in the second half of the 70s. Yes, the disco backlash and radio stations refusing to play their music was well known, but Barry writing songs for others had nothing to do with it and everything to do with who he was mingling with and collaborating with during his own time.

I WAS alive when this song came out, and I loved it immediately. Extremely boppy, a ballad techno, yet the lyrics quickly tear your heart out. For me as a woman, the lyric that really got me was "...we do nothing but compete", which rang so shockingly true !! The other hook was the perfect key change! :) Looking back, I'm shocked that this VERY 1990s style song was actually released in '87, not 10 yrs later. After all, 1987 was the year ST:NG premiered. Doesn't seem like the two were of the same era !! Moreover, I wanted to say that this song, which the Bee Gees themselves EXPECTED TO BE A HIT, actually never really charted in the US (#75 on Billboard - #1 in the UK & #20 in Australia). But it seems to have STARTED that techno trend in music this early, soon followed by the Simpsons' Do the Bartman (1990) !! Ahh, on second thoughts, John Farnham ("Far-num") released his fabbo similar-beat techno hit "Pressure Down" in 1986-87 which charted to #27 ?? a year earlier than Bee Gees with this arrangement style. So either the Bee Gees or Farnsey started the trend! Love them both, they are classic, no matter what. www.chartbeats.com.au/1987 (You Win Again), australian-charts.com/showitem.asp?interpret=John+Farnham&titel=Pressure+Down&cat=s (Pressure Down charts data, John Farnham official vid clip here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/pqOr2pWqbJF6g2U). I really like this song. You mentioned about having someone... except for hospital admissions, and a day or two here and there, I spent 1998 to 2020 with the love of my life. And his ashes are one my cabinet. I just miss him so much. . In the space of 7 years, I lost both of my parents, my service dog Luna, and the other half of my heart. There was one thing my grandmother used to say... even if you're angry, give your partner a kiss hello and a kiss goodbye, cause you never know. You probably saw this wall of text and didn't read it. It's ok. I just had to articulate it while it was still fresh in my ming. Your reactions make my nights less lonely. You make me laugh. For that, thank you.

Its always incredible to me that Barry writes such powerfully romantic lyrics about the hypocrisy of relationships, yet he’s been married solid for like 50 years. I’m not saying that marriage is easy & they haven’t had their ups & downs. But it’s usually the serial crooners that write stuff like this.

No. Sorry, Day 5 and 6 were NOT enjoyable. Odd choices. Where did you get them from? If it was from suggestions, that's bizarre, frankly. You might not want to listen to that commenter again. Sorry. I did subscribe, but I can't say I enjoyed day 5 or 6 of Bee Gees. I LOVE your personality though. And some of your newer reactions have bad song audio, but I think it's because of that annoying running "chat", and the vocal interruptions from that. Not a good choice. Sorry. I might end up un subscribing,
