I live in South Australia and we have a little town called Hahndorf here that was founded by German immigrants and still maintains a facade of German culture today. Mostly it is touristy, but it is still very cute and the restaurants are quite good serving all sorts of German food.

I also live in South Australia. The German settlers (the first group came in 1838) were among the earliest immigrants to South Australia (the only Australian colony that was not a convict settlement). The Germans were important in the creation of the very important wine industry in South Australia. There are other German settlements in the Barossa Valley and in the mid north. They had their names changed during WWI (69 towns). Hahndorf's name was reinstated in 1935 but others, such as Peterborough (originally Petersburg) weren't.

My Grandfather was a full blooded German before he became a dedicated American. The village of Glamping is the most creative and artsy community I've seen so far in your travels across Russia and now Georgia. The artistic designs on the windmills have a geometric design inherent to them. The German church was interesting. Clean, bare, and wooden features such as the balcony and some of the paneling render a Puritanical simplicity that communicates a modesty and simple straightforward union with the creator. The German church could be affiliated with the Lutheran protestant line, perhaps.The tents remind me of the Native American tee pees. The tents also conjure memories of Tiny Houses ----- that being houses that are radically small found primarily in the United states. The rugs have native American art designs stitched in them. A very good and informative video.

First time in church! I guess there is a first time for everything. I've never been to a roadside campsite. Most of my life I had boats and we often spent time on the lake with an occasional campfire at night. Our boat or friends boats had everything you needed to live on for a couple of days. Some had boats that they lived on most of the time. Living in Nashville for many years we were never more than 10 -30 minutes from a nice lake. That's a trip YOU ought to plan sometime in the future. It make s me wonder if they have that sort of thing in Georgia?

There are quite a few places similar to this in the United States. Mostly in rural areas and farming communities. Lutheran communities are in rural areas here, and many U.S. cities have Lutheran Churches. You should always wash fruits, because that are sprayed with insecticides. To ripen fruit quickly, put the fruit in a brown paper bag. It is nice to see you enjoying life, and searching for a nice place to live.

Here in Canada, camping is something almost everyone does. Here in my province of Alberta, I think every town and village has a camping ground in the town/village limited, or just outside of them. In my little village of about 200 (including the outlying farms), we have a campground with hook-ups for water, sewer and power, and every site has firepits/grills for cooking plus a large communal one that is enclosed. Some people live in our campground year-round. While I know nothing about the "glamping" places, I know there are places like that at just about every good lake. I say "good" lake, because in my very dry area, most of the lakes are very alkaline and stink.

Many peoples of olden times were farmers so the climate zone and geographic feature similar to their original home amenable to nearly the same agricultural techniques are favored to be settled and more likely to be successful. Germans' ancestors tended to be farmers and Germany has many rivers running northward down slope from the high Alps. Georgia where Natasha and Alena glamped probably had a similar type of environment: a river or stream nearby. It might've once been a farm or orchard. Kazakhstan also had German settlements, probably originally as farming communities. The Communists, with their class-struggle ideology also often subscribe to fighting against Nature so they are often rather idiotic in planting their communities where in difficult to supply locations unless *modern technologies* are employed. Communism is *ONLY* good for modern industrialized countries with well-developed economies. All of the Communist countries have failed economically and more.

Thank you for making me smile so much 😊. I'm an old one. I grew up in California in the 1950s-60s. I was not exactly a flower child, but I was influenced by the times, growing my hair long, wearing colorful headbands. When it comes to minority groups, I check several boxes: bisexual, mixed heritage (Portuguese, English, Dakota, etc.). An important characteristic I have is my progressive hearing loss. Now I refer to myself as Deafish. I have two primary languages: English and American Sign Language. I love languages, as do you. So, I wonder if you have encountered deaf people there or previously in Russia.
@NatashasAdventures
Ай бұрын
Hi! Thanks for sharing. Yes, i encountered deaf people in Russia, but very rarely (is this term correct to say? I thought it’s more correct to say “hearing impaired people” but google says that word “deaf” is normal to use.
@whitecrow1949
Ай бұрын
@NatashasAdventures ... We prefer Deaf. The other term emphasizes defect .. being broken. I do understand why non-deaf people think like that. It's not about being cruel or hostile. It's simply not knowing. But it does often have a negative or harmful effect. I grew up hard of hearing but in denial. I was "flawed." I began to learn American Sign Language at the age of 30. Because I have a progressive hearing loss and really do understand the Hearing,Hard of Hearing, and Deaf experiences, I have come to think of myself as Deafish ... not 100% any of those. A mutt as we might say in American English ... kinda like those cute puppies 🐶.
