Pre-Climb to Mount Guiting-Guiting
Mount Tapulao, also known as High Peak, is the highest mountain in the Zambales Mountain Range and the province of Zambales, Philippines. Standing at 2,037 meters (6,683 feet) above sea level, it offers breathtaking views and a diverse ecosystem.
The name “Tapulao” comes from the abundance of Sumatran Pine trees, locally known as “tapolaw.” The mountain was once a site for large-scale chromite mining, and remnants of this past can still be seen along the trail. Hikers will experience a variety of landscapes, from lowland grasslands to mossy montane forests and pine forests as they ascend.
The trail to the summit is challenging, with a mix of rocky and grassy paths, but the panoramic views from the top make it all worthwhile. On clear days, you can see the Zambales lowlands, the South China Sea, and even as far as Lingayen Gulf.
Whether you’re an experienced hiker or a nature enthusiast, Mount Tapulao offers a rewarding adventure with its unique flora, fauna, and stunning vistas.
