Knowing that Rep Lewis was beaten severely, along with many of the 600 people on the 1st March, it was extremely gratifying to learn that, about 2-3 weeks later, he was able to finish his march to Montgomery with 8,000 people (the final number in Montgomery the day they arrived was an estimated 25,000). I didn't know or learn about this growing up, other than the fact the march happened. I learned some of it reading his memorials in some of the major newspapers, and then researching him deeper on my own. He was a greater man than I could have imagined, and the world is a bleaker place without his steadying influence. 😕

Rep Lewis is one of the greatest men this country has ever had. We need several statues of him. Did you know one of his ancestors, a former slave, fought to get to vote. As soon as he was able, he went and voted. It took 100 years before someone in his family had that right again. John Lewis was that man. He fought so all could vote.

@@charlesstevens9775 so I looked it up because I wanted to be certain. Don't wanna argue if I'm wrong. Apparently the judge had signed a warrant for her place to be searched. However it appears to me that she didnt jump into the gunshots. Also she didn't receive medical attention for more than 20 minutes after she was shot according to the logs that dispatch keeps. No one really knows what happened that night especially not some random chick like me. And mr. Walker should not have fired his gun however they were in fear for their lives and there's a law colloquially referred to as the stand-your- ground law that allows for a person in a situation such as that to protect themselves. I don't think that we need to get rid of the police entirely but something needs to be done to protect people's lives.
