Possibly. The rule book specifically disallows using anything other than your hands or your feet to prepare the ground for a field goal. This is most often seen in snow games.

@@johnkurtz7705 Personally, I don't think it would be called, as the ref would probably see it as within the rule. When it came to the towel, I suspect the ref was more surprised that the team blatantly ignored the rule.
