Chris, thanks for another great video. Some real treasures there, not least the 1911 2011, the S&W 12-2 and that P226. I was also very pleased to see that Colt Frontier Scout, because, back here in the UK, I once owned a .22LR 6" barrelled version for a time. I'm sure mine would have had an adjustable rear sight, as I used it for slowfire bullseye target shooting on 25 yard paper targets. It was certainly accurate enough to be competitive there, but I eventually swapped it for a Browning Target .22LR semi auto.

Re: MAS 49/56 There had been a proverbial booty ton of small arms development in Europe between 1918 and 1939 but the focus was on machine guns, particularly light ones because that’s what almost nobody had and thus needed most. So ZB, FM 1924/29, the FN BARs, Vickers Berthier and all the stuff developed in Germany and by proxy companies.

Couple other points on the vz58. Bolt lock up is done with a P-38/Beretta style dropping block (upside down). With the action opened, there is a stripper guide on the bolt carrier. Uses 10 rd stripper clips to top off the magazine. Think of the US M14 rifle. I've always had a good supply of original "bnx" S&B strippers, not sure if SKS one's will work.

I've wanted a French self loader for quite some time & had no clue some were rechambered for 308. I know that can drastically impact reliability, how well do the 308 versions run? I would actually prefer that bc I like to shoot my collection & that would be an easy addition to the safe without needing to make space for new calibers in the ammo cans.

6% or so for GBO fee IF you are certified to sell. About 15% normal consign fee or $25 plus 10% of GB sell price . Your gun is OK but it won't put much in your pocket.

The US went with the Beretta back in 1985 because they got a Military base in Italy
@johnnygnoneeded
3 жыл бұрын
The USArmy, USAirforce and USNavy have had military bases in Italy since the end of WW2, it was never a "base deal." It was a combination of "We want a new 9mm, for logistics and magazine capacity," "We want something less expensive to manufacture, for cost," and "We want something New, because New is 'Always Better'." So rather than just put on better sights, which were always hard to see on the old standard issue 45s, they went through the whole show and chose the Baretta, in part because Sig's entry was late with other problems, and Glock was still too radical an idea for the cement heads at US Ordinance procurement. All the Special Ops of whatever services kept the 45 [with better sights and other modifications], and used whatever other pistols they felt they needed to complete missions successfully; because they prefer using what works as opposed to using what someone who hasn't shot at an enemy since they were company grade officers tells them to. I was in during the trials and transition, and what I did NOT like on the Baretta was the higher slide mounted safety location and it's "reverse operation;" And especially while clearing stove pipe feeds and other malfunctions, usually from the cheap magazines, that you could accidentally re-engage the safety during fire. Not a good thing to happen during qualifying, let alone when the "bad guys" are that damned close! Otherwise, the Baretta was an "ok" pistol, not my favorite, but ok.

On the Buntline can’t you just look at Colts records and see when the pistols were ordered and check the times match up with the OK coral stuff?? I know that would not mean that he was carrying that specific gun then but if the Colt records are off then we’d know if it was a possibility or not?
