Old Order Mennonite here! It has been very interesting seeing how our “spiritual cousins” the Hutterites go about life. Thank you, and blessings!

I always had a huge garden, but after my parents died, the joy of the harvest and the processing died too. You have to have loved ones around you to share in the beauty of the harvest and to give the push needed to do the hard work of canning and preserving. So now I garden with my son and wife, but one really needs a Colony to make it all work right.

Lovely channel, I’m so fascinated by Mennonites and Hudderites having grown up so closely to them in Medicine Hat. My grandparents have great relationships with some of the colonies around us and have always gotten eggs, turkeys, chickens, and fruit and veg. I’ve been to a couple and think the way you live is so amazing.

We have serviceberry here in MN a variety of Saskatoon s, love them better than blueberries! Also dayliles are eatable. Used in Asian cooking. When I worked at an herb garden the owner served yogurt with fresh blueberries spooned into a daylily. (remove pistil and stamens first) Beautiful inside and out. MN is at the 44th parallel, so our summer days are long too. Thanks for sharing. ❤️

I see that both are Amelanchier, but The one I have is Amelanchier, arborea and your species is Amelanchier, alnifolia Saskatoon serviceberry. My grandchildren love to pick them and we have to get them before the robins make a meal of them I'm going to plant a Saskatoon variety if I can find one....oh well that's what the internet is for! Cheers! BTW I bought a copy of New Morning Mercies to help me through this Covid trama

@@gisellewaldner9406 I had to work injury. Most people know the tool as a T post pounder. we have one industrial size for putting tree steaks in for young trees. It toppled off the top and hit me directly in the face, so I was out of work for a week and a half. Had a mild concussion and didn’t know it. Now that I’m back to my great old self. I can enjoy your VLOG again , I’m all the way up to VLOG 19 I think. They so enjoyable. I’m really super excited to see the note at the end.

@Suzanne Sahl I’m not really sure what your hang up is with Giselle’s tattoo. You mentioned something in an earlier post about it having to do with modesty. Not sure where you derived that doctrine from but it’s just a small tattoo lady. Millions of people have them. Im not a big tattoo person but I actually think it looks cool! Love your vlogs Miss Giselle! Please keep doing them! Having been a former Hutterite, I love seeing how different Colony’s do things. Hello from a former Montana Lehrerleut!😊
