TALK TO THE BODY:
Communicating with Cravings
Cravings can be powerful, but you can address them by talking to your body. Here’s how to manage those moments:
Acknowledge the Craving: When a craving hits, don’t ignore it. Acknowledge its presence and the feelings it brings.
Express Your Intentions: Tell your body that you understand the craving but that you are in control. Ask your body to help remove the craving.
Example: "I feel this craving right now, but I am in control. Body, please help me remove this craving. I am committed to my health and well-being.
(Say it out loud.)
By addressing the craving directly, you’re changing your mental relationship with it. Instead of seeing it as an enemy, you’re engaging with it.
Here is a short version of the method, (F.A.T:) (No pun intended;-)
F: FOCUS:
Breathe and take a few moments to make sure your are present.
A: ACKNOWLEDGE:
Feel the craving. Notice where it is, how it feels, and its intensity without judgment.
T: TALK:
Talk to your body and craving as if it were a friend. “I understand you’re trying to tell me something, I hear you, and it’s okay. You can take it away now.”
