Cathy, What you have done is amazing. 25 lbs in 11 months is great. I understand where you're coming from. I lost two of my sons in the last year and a half. I did hospice the last year with my oldest son and that being hard physically and emotionally is an understatement. You're very strong One thing that has really helped me is going to the gym so keep up your walking. Even if it's only for ten minutes. When I have my really bad days I tell myself I don't have to do anything I don't want to. I try to remember that my boys would want me happy. I know I'll never really be happy in the same way ever again but hopefully I will be able to get past this extreme sadness. You're doing great. I wish I could give you some peace. 💕

Lost thirty pounds the last tour months just by walking, ,not a lot but just walking around the hay field and to the mail box. Eating more salads and meat, cutting out the fast foods and limiting going out to eat. Went from size 18s to 14s. My goal is size twelves Oh and by the way I am a 77yo female.

Good morning. I started watching you initially because I'm also an apple shape woman. I'm also 64 . I started my weight loss journey with you. I lost 25 lbs . I felt good. Last year my husband had alot of health issues. In and out of the hospital. He passed away the day after Thanksgiving. I cannot explain how horrible that is . We were always together. I gained some weight back. I'm also taking care of everyone else but myself. I went to the doctor last Thursday. My blood pressure had gotten so high that she wanted to put me in the hospital. What a wake up call. I want to thank you. Watching you has helped me more than you ever knew. I will continue to pray for you and your husband. I appreciate you so much. God bless you both. 🙏❤

Hi, Cathy. I’m so glad that I found this video today. I’m a fairly recent viewer of your channel and I had no idea what struggles you have been experiencing. I’m so sorry to hear about your challenges and I relate to much of it. I am older than you are (68) but I have also lost both parents in the last 7 years…and I’ve been dealing with a husband who struggles with a different type of illness (severe depression). I know what it’s like to be a caregiver of others who “rewards” herself with food, etc. I have been on Weight Watchers too (lifetime member who lost almost 100 pounds and gained it all back!). It has been a lifelong struggle. I finally went a different direction on the advice of a physician. 95% of my wardrobe is from Talbots (size 20WP or 2XP). I still shop at Talbots, but now in the petites department (14 p or 12 p). In the last 18 months I have lost almost 80 pounds and had a breast reduction surgery. I feel brand new…my struggles have not gone away, but I have put myself on my list of priorities. I was drawn to you and your videos. I applaud your dedication and successes. My plus size clothing is just packed away (for now) and I’m not sure I won’t need it again. I think so much of this journey is mental and emotional. I thank you for being so candid and I will continue to follow your channel.

In my experience, the slower I lose the fat, the longer it stays off. I’d rather lose 1 pound a month knowing it will be gone forever than lose 5 lbs a week and gain it all back just as quickly. “Perfection is not important but persistence is.” So true and wise! You go, Cathy! You have an amazing attitude and you’re looking good. Not just the losing excess weight, but your hair, skin and makeup are on point! That you have lost weight while having so much stress in your life is a miracle! My husband died of lung cancer when he was 35. It was 6 months from the day we found out to the day he died. I can't imagine going thru that for 30 yrs!! I understand your feelings about being an orphan. Both of my parents are gone too, and my oldest sister died a couple of years ago and my brother is 80 yrs old. I'm the youngest at 75 and I had a "come to Jesus" moment 13 months ago and went on a low carb eating plan. I've lost 43lbs and that darn scale can be so stubborn!! I haven't budged for the last month, but I'm in it for the long haul. It took me 40 yrs to put it on, so it's going to take years to get it off!! I have 60 more pounds to go before I reach my goal. Your journey is also supporting mine! You go girl!! Here's to living a non obese life!! Hugs and prayers to you and your husband ❤❤

My husband was diagnosed with cancer about a year and a half ago. We've been going through all sorts of test, doctors, procedures, and constant chemotherapy treatments. His cancer is the type that has a very low prognosis for longevity, so it's a stressful time for us. And I can't help but think about what the future has in store. Not what neither of us were planning on ... But I have found that if I begin to feel really down or want to reach for food, I head out of the house and walk it off! Or get on the treadmill. It clears my head and being outdoors is always a mood lifter. No matter the weather, I get outside to get my mood and cravings in hand! As an added bonus, I also lose weight! :-) Just keep up trying and don't use anything as an excuse for not plugging along! Finding reasons to not follow your good eating plan is an easy trap to fall into. I know from experience! You've come this far and should be extremely proud of yourself and your progress! You can easily see it in the mirror and on these videos! Keep up the great work!! 🙂

Love the car analogy. I, like you, have been so fortunate in that my body has been very kind to me and 'm 77!! However, last week out of the blue I had a stroke and a subsequent MRI and waiting for the results. I feel fine but it definitely was a wake-up call to stop eating the ice cream! I sense that you are emotionally strong but, yes, we're only human and some days are difficult. I lost my mom when I was 13, and then my dad walked away, so I didn’t have your experience…but, my 21 year old daughter was studying in Italy and got very sick and came home instead of going back to college. I had just gotten my health improved for the first time in my life (I’m 47, lost 45 lbs and became a Pilates mom..). I had to put my health journey on hold to care for her and I’m still in that season. I’m trying to remember how happy and whole I was so I go back to that when she’s better. Coping with cancer for 30 years...my goodness Cathy, it's got to be exhausting and hard to watch someone you love suffering. You are an inspiration because the stress doesn't come across in your videos, and you are positive and truly, if you didn't say anything, no one would know. As a praying person, I do pray for you and your husband. Congratulations on the weight loss. That picture of you in the black dress is something you should be very proud of. You look great, and it's a good idea to keep that picture for encouragement. My mom passed away three weeks ago and it threw me off the rails on the walking challenge. It's up to me to tie up all loose ends with that. So I'm just trying to stay upright and keep moving forward! I'll get back to the walking because it really helped. I get it about both parents being gone. Standing at their grave, I thought, holy cow, we used to go camping together... they were alive..we lived life and now they're gone. It was very hard. And yes, guess who is the elder family member now... you are right, when they are no longer here it's a huge change. I really appreciate you and your channel because you are real and honest and approachable, and let's not forget inspirational! Keep going, you are doing great!!

Thank you for sharing your feelings about the loss of your parents. I remember distinctly saying that I felt like an orphan. Then I thought I was being ridiculous. I’d never heard anyone say that and I felt weirder about it. It helps me to hear that you felt that way as well. I was wondering about the walking challenge so glad to get that update. You can always earn more money, but you cannot create one more second of time. Losing my parents and facing some serious health challenges myself has encouraged me to value time over money at every decision point. Taking care of yourself, being patient with yourself, fueling your body with healthy food, and even every minute you exercise or every step you take is a gift to yourself. You've shared a ton of wisdom here, and your respect for yourself is wonderful. It's a great lesson for us all. In most of life, I've found my attitude drove my success and happiness. You're doing helpful things to keep a good attitude despite challenges, and that's a giant help towards becoming the person you want to be. Celebrate every day the good you see and feel, and I wish you (and me) every success! Bravissima!

I'm so sorry about all your challenges. Your comments about becoming an orphan at the loss of your parents really speaks to me. I lost my Dad 15 years ago and miss him every day. Lost my oldest sister last year to cancer and just lost my mom last month. I keep thinking of things I need to call and tell her. Care giving is hard and wearying, with few breaks or off days. You're so smart to take care of yourself and you're making great progress! Brava!

It isn't easy being an orphan at any age. I lost my mum nearly twelve years ago. There is no right or wrong way to grieve - we each have to find our own path through. The thing that helped me most was talking to people who knew my mum and sharing memories with them. I still visit one of her friends every week. I think you have done amazingly well to lose 25lbs in spite of all the stress you have been dealing with. To maintain your weight under the circumstances would have been an achievement, but you have gone way beyond that. Well done! You are right not to put extra pressure on yourself and to focus on taking care of your health. If you feel that posting regular weight loss videos would help you to achieve your goals, the go ahead, but, if you feel that would be too much pressure, just post when you have something that you want to say. I'm sure we will all be happy to hear from you whenever you want to chat.

When trials are greatest And all goes wrong, Just buckle your Armour And trudge along. The way that is weary. Dark and cold, May lead to shelter Within the fold. These trials were meant To make you strong; So buckle your Armour And trudge along.

I like and look forward to your monthly weight loss journey check ins and certainly would still want to hear from you if you "only lost a pound." That's reality. One of the biggest struggles I had in my youth was thinking that I was the only one who had this struggle or that struggle. It's taken me decades to realize that no one truly has a magical life without hardship - some people are just better at papering over the cracks. Anyway, if it helps you to share the ups, the downs and the same-old-same-olds I'm certainly gonna be here for it!

Cathy, I think your videos, especially the more personal ones involving caring for ourselves and weight loss and the challenges, are so helpful to everyone in general, but especially to those of us who face situations similar to yours. It can feel very isolating and almost insurmountable to deal with chronic illness and losing parents or loved ones and try to improve our own health at the same time. The emotions and stress can feel overwhelming when they have been long term. Your idea of kindness to ourselves will likely do much more good in trying to follow better patterns of eating and moving than being angry or chiding ourselves. I appreciate your realistic point of view. ❤

Girl! YAY! I am so super proud of you! Your video last July really sparked my weight loss journey, as well! I am down about 35 pounds! I am starting to see myself through different eyes! I am at a weight I have not been at for over 17 years! This has me so excited! I, too, have really had to change up not only WHAT I am eating, but also HOW MUCH I am eating! This has been the game changer for me and now my husband! He is down 30 lbs in five months… ur we will not talk about that! LOL!

I am loving your conversation tonight. Everything you say is so true. The balanced plate is truly a wonderful way to eat. By doing it, cravings are much less . I have lost a great deal of weight in the last 18 months and have found myself treating myself so much more kindly. Please continue to do that.

Wise words! I’m trying to think of my body as a clay sculpture being molded to my AGE REALISTIC goals. I’m half a year from 70 with a bad lower back and want to lose 30 lbs and add muscle. Don’t want easy…no shots, etc. But we women are very strong when we commit, as you’ve shown to be. Moderation, forgiving ourselves over slips, and staying true to our commitment is a journey we can do!! You are proving that true Cathy. 🙏 for you and your husband to achieve some peace in your continuing health crisis.

Sending you a big hug Cathy! I had cancer 30 years ago…..I know that cloud hanging over your head. Even when one is cancer free, the fear is never truly gone. Whatever coping skills you developed were necessary at the time. As you say, we’re all on a constant journey of change and we should forgive ourselves for the choices we’ve made and just look forward. You look wonderful and have achieved so much! Many blessings as you continue to walk this path. ❤

Cathy, I can so relate with all this. I've had to have my corneas scraped, and the pain is worse than anything I felt giving birth to my son. I can tell you corneas heal quickly because of the moisture in our eyes. One of my cats recently passed away, and for some reason it brought back the loss of both my parents, and the fact that I'm far away from my son and sisters. You have done amazingly well dealing with your husband's illness, and to have lost 25 lbs is a big accomplishment! I admire you so much, and look forward to all your videos. You look fantastic, and the difference is really noticeable!

Cathy, you have had so much on your plate, and I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's health. I will be praying for him and you. I can understand weight, and dealing with emotions by not dealing with them (stuffing our emotions) you are doing the right thing, self care is so important, and practicing mindfulness, and thankfulness is so good! One day at a time, that's all we can do, the best we can with what we have. I'm proud of you and your health journey. Twenty-five pounds is wonderful! I've been working on my health and weight as well. I see a lot of myself in you. Bless you for sharing. Blessings on your family.

I can see in your face the weight loss - you look terrific! I’m really proud for you. I seem to be losing & gaining back the same 2#s over and over again! It’s so frustrating. I like the idea and premise of being kind and respectful of myself but it seems the only way I really lose weight is by being really strict on ❤myself. I get up everyday thinking I’ll do better this time. I had a hip replacement last year and I’m not where I want to be, physically yet. I don’t think that was the end all but I am gradually getting back into line dancing which I really love. Now I have something going on with my foot so that’s slowing me down. I appreciate your sharing today - I needed to hear. Tomorrow’s a new day…

Like you, I'm inclined to want to 'fix' myself and not ask for help and as I am getting older I too have come to the realization that I need to make 'me' and my health a priority now. I do appreciate your openness and sharing your experiences - I can relate to a lot of what you share and in many ways your re-enforce the approach I'm taking for myself as I work towards a healthier and smaller version of me. Thank you!

Hi Cathy. I really got a lot out of this video and would love to see more of the same. I'm turning 65 this month and have been dealing with two autoimmune diseases for decades. I lost my dad a year ago and since then I've decided that I need to focus on myself. I've been losing weight and last week my rheumatologist told me she didn't see any markers for my SLE Lupus. It's not curable but goes into remission! That really gave me the boost to keep going. Caretaking is a hard and difficult thing to do; so proud that you are focusing on you. I weigh myself once a week but never took my measurements. Give yourself a hug!! ❤

The way you are losing it nice and slow is the right way to do it. You will see less skin sag and be 10x more likely to keep it off. You are not dieting. You are creating a lifestyle. I am striving to do the same thing ❤

Fabulous video, Cathy! If you were my younger sister I would tell you how proud I am of you! 🥰Remember that you don't need to give up cardio because of your knee when there are probably hundreds of chair cardio KZitem videos available, plus thousands of chair yoga videos all for free! When athletes have an injured knee, they use the recovery time to focus on core, back, hip and arm strength. You can get powerhouse abs, hips, arms, and back while at the same time giving your knee some love. Now is the time for really go for it. 🤗 I'll be cheering you on!

25 lbs down is great. I too am down 27 lbs and have that much more to go but slow and steady is the best as we can learn how to maintain it.
