hey phillip , i have a doubt on the last question, you said 1/4 of the mixture of glass B is in the resulting glass , but isn't it the calculation just for lemonade , so it is 1/4 of 65% of the resultant glass not 1/4 of the entire resultant glass. hence you cannot calculate 1/2 of 1/4 is the cola in the resultant glass. am I right?

On the last question, if 62.5 ml is the amount of cola , and then 325 ml will be the amount of lemonade, hence their sum will be 387.5. After we get this value 112.5 ml is left for water, but from question water only have 30% of the total of two containers because it only found in the first container, so that, how come 112.5 amount is left for water?

What percent of employees drive to work if half the drivers are women?) I can’t seem to find the ‘middleman’ and then I realized it was not arithmetic but harmonic question. Solution should be 48%. Can you help me understanding the problem with my thinking? I thought way too hard about this & ended up doing it with different variables but feeling like it should have still worked. I put 30% water on the left & 50% cola on the right. Then I ended up with the same 3:1 ratio. BUT THEN I did 500*0.35 =175ml (because that's everything else that's not Lemonade (water/cola). then 175/4= 43.75ml because the 3:1 ratio told us there was 1/4 cola in the remaining 35%. I don't get why that doesn't work. Help explain if you see this pls.

Hello First, thank you so much for your amazing videos. Why do I think the question is solved wrong. That quarter was found is a portion of the 65% lemonade not the 500ml overall mixture. So I was frozen at that point. The way I solved it was basically calculating the amount that 65% makes of the 500ml then giving the lemonade of glass B 1/4 of it as in ml which is fact the same amount as the cola in glass B. It gives a different result. So I am confused.

Thank you so much for the informative video, you've truly been of great help. However, I have a doubt in the last problem. At 13:35, you have mentioned that out of 500 ml mixture, 1/4 is from glass B. But that 1/4 is just from 65% of the mixture, not the whole 500 ml mixture. In other words, Glass B has contributed 1/4 of the 65% of the mixture, not the 500 ml mixture, isn't it?
@TheTestedTutor
2 жыл бұрын
The 65% is different, about the lemonade percentage of each. We only use that to work out the ratio of A and B. The 1/4 we get is now of the total, not just of the lemonade.

I am a little bit confused in the last example. You have drawn the number line only using the value of Lemonade. Fine. But you are saying that 1/4th portion of the mixture (total 500 mL) has come from Glass B. How is this possible? To my understanding, in the final mixture, only the lemonade has come 1/4th from Glass B, as you have drawn the number line using the Lemonade data. I am confused here. Kindly solve this issue, if possible. Anyways, thanks a lot for your videos. Cheers!

@santhoshj6854
2 жыл бұрын
@Meghana Sharma For anyone reading the comments, the final ratio 3:1 (A:B) is the ratio in 500 ml of total mixture and not just the lemonade. You can prove this by taking 250 ml of A and B. Considering same percentages of cola, water and lemonade in A and B, you will have: A (175 ml lemonade and 75ml water) B(125ml of cola and lemonade). So final mixture will have 300 ml of lemonade which is 60 percent of final 500 ml mixture. So if you apply the same method, you will have the ratio 1:1 in the number line, for 50,60,70 percentages of lemonade, which as u can see is the ratio of A:B in final mixture and not just the lemonade.
@TheTestedTutor
2 жыл бұрын
We use lemonade only because we have the percentages for each of them and also a middle number average. This then reveals how much B is as a fraction of total. Then as only B has cola we just find half of B.

For Verbal: Learn as many words u can. There is one app called Galvanize it has 1800 words. Use it. Also learn words from Magoosh flashcards (must)(1009 words) and Manhattan Prep 5lb book (1500 words). If that's too much, use Barron's verbal workbook.( It has around 3.2k words). My RC sucks so can't tell much abt it. For Quants: Practice math as much as u can. First understand the formula (don't mug up) and understand the concept. Practice so much that u could solve math orally. That'll help. I've been in the same position before. Got 299 at that time. For math, Manhattan Prep 5lb book and Magoosh practice problems r enough.
