I have a .177 HW30s doing 8ftlb, tested with JSB RS at 700fps (basically the same sort of trajectory as a sub 12ftlb .22 air rifle). I've found JSB/AA Express and Daystate Kaiser (H&N FTT 4.51mm) to be the best pellets for accuracy in mine. I've got a 2-7x32 Hawke Airmax scope on it. I agree! It's the best plinker ever!...... and you're right sir, we are living in a very dark time and few seem to notice or care.

I bought a Daisy 880, two driveway alarms, and two trail cams to alert me to these beasts destroying my vegetables but the Daisy doesn`t drop them. It has helped reduce their activity. I put up two Onite LED bulbs powered by either power banks or small solar power stations to see them when the alarms go off because they`d run when I shined a light on them. Can`t afford to pay much on a fixed income lately if I want to eat meat or eggs.

I took your advice and bought a brand new .177 HW30. By far, the worst air rifle I own. Around 700 to 800 pellets through it, and still won't shoot less than a three inch group at ten meters. Some groups as large as six to eight inches. I have tried open sights, different scopes, different mounts. Nothing works. I own several Diana rifles that shoot extremely well. Perhaps I have to shop for a Chinese rifle to replace the HW.

Check to make sure that the stock and scope mount screws tight. Try different and high quality pellets? If none of those things work, send it back. @@springpistonriflefeverlone9611 Thanks for the reply. I really enjoy your channel. I have tried about fifteen different brands and weights of pellets including match. I split cards standing with my Diana 34 and 24. Can't do it from a rest with the HW30. Maybe I'll try tuning. It really is a nice gun to shoot, if I could just hit something with it. I have several Diana rifles and they shoot fine for me. How I wish the HW 30 liked me. It is a very nice rifle to shoot, but every time I try, it is the same old story. However, my wife has claimed it, and enjoys shooting it. Happy ending, sort of.

@@alannorr that’s interesting. Did you try different types of holding the rifle? I notice with mine a light hold is key, no hard gripping, soft cheekweld and only shooting from the hand or a soft bag for the rifle to rest on. Once in a while I take off the scope to shoot open sights and it’s always jawdropping to me being able to hit a bottle cap at 15meters without a scope😛
