Absolutely cringeworthy interviewing. That journalist should feel ashamed of herself. What she had to say was so offensive to any victims of sexual assault that were watching. My eyes hurt from rolling them so much at her line of questioning. I love how Rose handled those stupid questions.

Caroline B I think you need to understand that reporters should not be biased, and have to play both sides to get answers. Instead of answering with dignity, she embarrassed herself by getting heated. These are legitimate questions that are meant to clear up things. Did she ask offensive questions like “did you like getting raped?” or “why didn’t you look for another career?”. No, so I would suggest people to find better things to be sensitive about.

Actually, her implications were that because Rose was in Hollywood she was predisposed and hence deserved rape. Unless you live in denial you should be able to see that was the interviewer's intention. The intention to mask abuse and rape which goes on in every field with the anecdote that because you are beautiful you deserved it. Stop. Just stop.

Jesus Castaneda it seemed very clearly to me that Rose McGowan had assumed that she would get nothing but softball questions that would reinforce her POV. When she got questions that assumed a different POV (the Catherine Deneuve line of questions) she just disengaged and refused to carry on. She's too used to American interviewers who act as PR and support and never challenge her. Laura did an interviewer's job well here. On this side of the Atlantic, reporters don't suck to their interview subjects the way they do in the U.S.

This is an insanely bad interview. I'm really disappointed in France 24. I've been subscribed to France 24 for a while but as a viewer, I'm mostly used to the American press. Maybe journalistic norms are different in France but it's usually thought of as unconscionable in the US to ask a rape victim why she deserves empathy. Also, if the interviewer or segment producer had bothered to read any of the reporting of the Weinstein scandal they would know that Weinstein intentionally chose victims who were not established in their careers. The women were beautiful but Weinstein made sure he was the only one who was wealthy or privileged in these encounters. That's why your interview went off the rails. Do better France 24!

I have heard accounts of the European press outfits being hostile to victims of sexual assault. I know Asia Argento was treated pretty badly for talking about how Harvey Weinstein raped her. Maybe it is standard practice to expect victims of sexual assault to explain why anyone should care if they got raped. Given what I have seen in the year or so that I have been subscribed, I didn't get the impression that this is standard practice at France 24.

"struggle to find empathy for beautiful people" That was the most ridiculous assumption. I've not seen a single survey supporting this claim. The host seems to have taken her own stereotypes, and assumed "the ordinary people" shared them. I've found that French culture has very much internalized and naturalized the "hunt" of the male for the female. Much of what is transgression of boundaries and street harassment for most people in Nordic or Anglo Saxon countries is normalized as chivalry and "boys will be boys" in France and by French women (who sometimes seem to see this behavior as flattery of their own "sex appeal"). I am glad that harmful culture of "no does not mean no, but means the man should pursue further" is slowly being questioned within France and by some French women. It needs to happen from the inside though.

I would have liked to hear her response to these (imo, highly offensive and stupid) statements made by Catherine Deneuve and some others. Thing is: To be able to ask a victim of assault very triggering questions, you'd have to make them feel at ease and safe. The interviewer did the absolute opposite, severely offending and triggering her with her absolutely ridiculous claims how "people" (?) would not feel with beautiful actresses (because they're privileged - by whom? nature? for predators to come after them first?), and how being an actress in the movie industry meant "selling...." (she knew not to finish that sentence, and we can only guess she wanted to say themselves or their bodies - both of which is tasteless and disrespectful to an ARTIST).

Without referring to individual cases, because I don’t know enough about them, these are some general impressions based on what one hears: some Hollywood actresses, prostitutes by profession and sewage plumbers may be compared. All three go through a physically unpleasant experience. It’s voluntary. However, the first do so in order to get an advantage over others who auditioned for the same role but refused to compromise, make millions out of it, and then kick up a fuss. The latter make far, far less, in far worse conditions, and just get on with the ‘raw deal’ many of us are ‘dealt by destiny’. Now if someone owns a company and he offers you a job in exchange for certain favours, however sleazy they may be, you don’t have to accept, do you? Not in any greater sense than a prostitute or a sewage plumber are obliged to do their jobs. You just make a quick evaluation and decide whether the sacrifice is worthwhile. Of course, the matter is totally different if he then threatens an actress’ career when she applies for roles elsewhere, or if direct force is used. So, in each case, it must be decided whether it is an instance of the first type, or of the second. So, I support the interviewer for bravely addressing the ‘speak the truth’ PC taboo side of this discussion. The huffing and puffing, the refusal to reply and the rebuttal using a whole range of non-linguistic communication expressing disdain were not a convincing response.

Rose McGowan should apologize to Laura Cellier for being so condescending in the second half. It's clear that Rose is now blinded by hate. Instead of respecting a fellow female, she instead rolls her eyes and feels like she is not worth her time. This is why many people do not support various streams/extremes of feminism: not only do many men unjustly get thrown to the wolves, but women do, too. What obviously hit a nerve was when Laura mentioned women and Hollywood...everyone knows women use their looks/sex appeal to move up. However, it looks like Rose would like to brush that aside because she wants to pretend there are no consequences to flaunting yourself, among other things. You were with Marilyn Manson back in the day, for cryin' out loud. You were obviously looking for trouble/attention then and unfortunately we all have to deal with the choices we make. No one is perfect, but being this rude speaks volumes.

This interviewer did use incredibly offensive points, and it does not help hiding them behind an alleged "opinion of the ordinary people". She stopped short of explicitly saying beautiful women in the movie industry sold themselves or their bodies (ignorant to the fact that what they are offering is a craft, even it means playing seductive or sexual characters). Of course the interview had to go downhill from there, triggering a victim of sexual assault. It's unfortunate this interviewer bombed the interview - I would have liked to hear Rose's thoughts on the opinions of the referenced (imo, incredibly stupid) remarks by Catherine Deneuve and some other French women. She did not have an environment that was respectful enough of her ordeal and trauma where she could have shared some insight into her thoughts on these women's statements, and a possible response to them.

This reporter was either insanely unprofessional or insanely sexist. Her questions could have been productive, but instead she makes them accusatory and with each one is invalidating the entire movement as well as the pain and suffering of the victims. Even after she insinuates that actresses and models are selling sex and thus it’s their fault, she continues to make accusatory questions. Instead of asking “what is your response to those that believe there are systems in place and that this movement is trial by social media” instead she asks about the trial by social media and then goes above and beyond to reinforce the idea that THAT opinion is right by responding with “anyone can go online and say that a man has done something to them and then their career and reputation can be ruined!” “Should we always automatically believe women? We should always believe women over men?” “But we do have laws, police and the legal process!” She was insanely unprofessional and invalidating, and Rose becoming irritated is completely understandable. How many women’s lives have been ruined by those exact kinds of questions when they seek justice for sexual assault? And now, after actual social traction has been growing, this reporter regresses. This is entirely on the reporter, not on rose, and the reporter should be fired because this is a monumental failure as a journalist. Any other similar level of failure in other careers would immediately call for termination

And the reporter was very happy that Rose fell right in to the emotional defensive trap when asked Hollywood sells sex. Hollywood sells the exact same thing as entertainment industries in every country, entertainment. 1, Sexuality is part of being human. 2, the French are no classier or "better" than America considering sexuality is what they push as being known for. Considering their history is covered in bloodshed and rape around the world, they or her need to humble down. Rose should've handled it better. Well damn. I want to congratulate Laura Cellier for maintaining her composure in the face of someone who clearly doesn't understand what journalism is about. Just because a journalist asks a question doesn't mean the journalist actually stands behind it. That's called representing ALL POINTS OF VIEW and BEING NEUTRAL in front of the camera. Journalists are expected to present questions from all angles to the interviewee. So I think Rose is too emotionally involved here, clearly, and cannot dissociate the person asking the question from the essence of the question itself, basically pushing for censorship. as is too often seen these days where people are trying to shun other people's opinions and views, even journalsts who don't share these views, just because they don't like what they hear.

Hmmm, why do beautiful women shave their heads after suffering sexual abuse at the hands of a sociopathic male with mysogenism justifying his dehumanisation of all women and their place in society? Perhaps beauty attracts unwanted attention and the shaved look puts lowlife meatheads off performing unwanted sexual advances maybe? Some men and women act as though rape is no big deal. Disempowering victims entirely is how the economy works in the real world. Rose is doing a much more decent thing in standing up against Weinstein's behaviour, than most things ever done by the power crazy "leaders" of our society or any of their morally compromised sycophantic followers either. *How is she going off about not being wealthy and having her career stolen when she’s literally in London getting interviewed live on France24? I’ve never been to London and experienced that. If she weren’t wealthy, she wouldn’t be attacking the interviewer.*

Nothing's wrong in your English. Its perfect. Well First , they sell their bodies in movies for money and when things don't go the way they want, they feel cheated. They does inappropriate scenes in the movies that is shown on TV all over the world. Kids watches it too and that makes a bad impact on their minds. Think about it, they grow up watching those adultery scenes.

Who cares? People can put whatever they want into their bodies. Anyone who supports the War on Drugs is a parasite on individual freedom.

She doesn't know the names of all of his enablers. I bet if she had list of names of all the assistants, lawyers, business managers and accountants to aided Weinstein in his predation, she would have posted it online by now.

Charles Henry Bell ?? She has named many of the enablers. And not just once either. You need to keep up.

I said all not many. You should read more carefully. There probably aren't very many people who know more about Harvey Weinstein's enablers that Rose McGowan but she was never embedded in his organization and she isn't omniscient. It is unreasonable to expect her cite everyone who helped Weinstein even if she may know some or even many names.
