Welcome back for 2018 Robert, Johnny and the Fully Charged behind the scenes team. Wishing you all a sensational New Year. I just binge watched to Tokyo release. Fantastic! Really really enjoyable and I’m pleased to say, without giving anything away that it was down to earth, informative and varied which is what I love. Keep up the great work team. Don’t get too big for your boots. Stay humble and keep having fun while revealing what’s going on in the world of EV and future systems of energy.

This weekend I drove an electric car for the first time for more than a few minutes. I had an awesome Leaf weekend! I had this weekend 3 weeks after I placed an order for a 2018 Leaf. Never really drove an EV for more than 2 minutes before ordering. You are one of a few people that made me confident enough to do that. Thank you! I doubt my Leaf will be delivered early enough, but if it does - I will try my best to be at the live event driving there from the Baltic Sea coast of Germany in my Leaf.

It happened to me too. I knew that I wanted one badly but being "sensible" I had to wait for the range to go up and the price to go down. However when the 17 year old car was about to fail its MOT (TuV) and I was looking around for a "bridge" to the EV , my German wife pointed out that I wasn't getting any younger (over sixties dont as a rule) so I might as well take the plunge. Have enjoyed it immensely for two years and could never go back,
@benedikt5974
6 жыл бұрын
Yes, that might have been a part of my decision making too. I wanted an EV but the ones I could afford didn't fit. So I had to set a goal. I chose a route I drive about 10 times a year (about 214km) and said that the first car that could do this route comfortably (even in winter at highway speeds) without recharging under 40k€ (including our 19%VAT) would be mine. The new Leaf does not fully meet that definition - but then it's only 30k€. You aren't becoming younger in the 40ies neither...

Huzzah for bulk posting! I binge watched most of the 2017 episodes starting in late summer last year and I was so encouraged I went and signed up for a 5kW PV System with a Powerwall 2! I have been sad to be “caught up” on episodes, so I’m stoked that new episodes will be available in sets, as it were. Kudos, and thanks tons, as always!

Robert I saw a really interesting light railway system (Tram) this New Year in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The Tram uses Ultra Capacitors and Batteries instead of a live rail or overhead cables - the cool bit is that each station has an overhead charging rail which is accessed by an extendable power contactor on the roof of the Tram. During each stop, the Tram receives 20 - 30 seconds of charge while loading passengers and this is enough to charge the Ultra-Capacitors for the 1.5km to the next stop. This system is less costly to install than a traditional Tram and does not need unsightly overhead cables. It's brilliant!! You should make a new article or feature show about it.

I worked out that by simply dividing the cost of Hinckley point C by the cost of my 4kW solar PV install (£4,800) that has generated an average of 3,700 kWh per year, you find that if you spend the same cost of Hinckley on domestic PV not only would you create more jobs distributed across the country, you’d also generate more than double the amount of electricity per year. Interesting thought. . .

Great, new & improved audio Robert. True Gigawatt Scale, Battery Storage for Solar & Wind Farm use isn't cheap, over 50 years, which is the typical, lifespan of a Powerstation. Try doing the math, the figures soon get pretty devastating for Huge, Grid Scale Storage, which hasn't been implemented, on the Massive Scale needed yet, for Baseload Power. Not that I'm advocating Nuclear Power. But the cost differences, might not be as great as you might, first imagine. Best wishes for the new year...

Just a quick thought about the "netflix approach": I'd be happy to be wrong, but from what I've seen here on KZitem from other creators it doesn't work. People will watch the first episodes and forget about the last ones because they are not on top of their subscriptions list anymore. If you have 5 episodes the more effective way to release them would be one per day, or even one every other day so that people can have time to watch every one of them. As I said though, this is just my opinion based on my experience as a KZitem user, I hope the 5 episodes will get tons of visualisations
@shonunezekiel

zev16 agree, will be interesting to see what happens... I would rather watch 5x10min fullycharged episodes, than a 50min TV program. Every time I watch a new episode, I wish it was longer or there were more of them.

Of the three key aspects of a project (time, budget & standard (H&S too)) the one that I wouldn't want them to cut corners on with a nuclear job is the standard of construction/budget. Take your time to get it right, don't worry about the cost or the repercussions will be felt across most of Europe.

Having just "Binge-Watched" all 5 car show segments I would say that while they were not too long, it got confusing as to what order to watch them, (ended up watching in order of what looked most interesting on the thumbnails, and that was not the ideal order in reality). I would suggest no more than 3 at a time: Easy to keep track of what you have watched, and relate 'linked' content to the other videos, and not too time consuming if you do not have an hour to spare. Good coverage of the car show, and I am glad of the progress being made towards EV trucks and vans. A show on them would be interesting!
