I traveled to Palestine's occupied West Bank to volunteer and meet people in late May-June of 2023. I didn't travel to document or take photos or make journalism so please pardon the few instances of wind in this work. I recorded it on my phone, using the onboard mic. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy it and find it informative and useful. (Filmed June 14th, 2023)
Hebron, also known as Al-Khalil, in the occupied West Bank is surrounded by illegal Jewish settlements and concrete walls that at their peaks have rows of barbed wire and that surround the Old City of Hebron that used to be a bustling marketplace-- now there are long stretches of nothing, no commerce, no people. Many of the Palestinian residents have had their doors welded shut by the Israeli forces. There is zionist graffiti everywhere, on the mosques, on the Palestinian flag.
Zleikha’s front door was welded shut about 20 years ago, her front door leads out to Al-Shuhuda street-also known as apartheid street where Muslims walk on one side and Jewish settlers on the other. Join Zleikha as she talks and walks us through some of the apartheid experienced by Palestinians from her rooftop to the Ibrahimi Mosque.
Free Palestine.
