It scares me that KZitem can read my mind! Lol. I was looking through my scrap box and thinking....only thinking about this exact thing and boom...there you are doing a video on it! I know it was just the luck of the algorithm...but it's fun to joke about it. Just found your channel today and I'm subscribed now. Great channel!

That was a great video. I too take a bunch of scraps and experiment. ✌👋

I love working with scrap metal even though it's more work. I need to get a forge press to take some of the hard work out of it.

Looking good so far! When I do cu mai I get it around 1700-1850 max. Much higher and the copper starts liquefying and leaking out.

Pretty sure I was hotter than that, some of the steel welded to other steal layers on the edge. Pressure distribution is a lot different when you're using a hammer rather than using a press. I think I might end up having slight imperfections as a result of my steel not being completely smooth. We'll have to see. You were my only real reference for doing this. Thanks for being my bladesmith brother. 😎

@@WJBlades I’m anxious to see the blade you make from this! Nice work! 👍

I really like this video, and I’m glad you went with a higher temperature, I think the steel always needs to be at a welding heat for other metals to stick to it, and I also am excited to see how your dagger comes out. It’s always cool to see someone else experimenting with scrap metal, scraps are all I can afford to work with. Happy smithing and keep up the good work.

When I get time, I love seeing what can be accomplished with scraps. Thanks for the encouragement.

I never finished this project out. I did use another part of that lawn mower blade to start another knife. And you are 100% correct that knife did not end up hardening to where I wanted it so, that project was scrapped as well. I will not be using lawn mower blades for cutting edges in the future.
