Good to see you back Rob. Our drilling campaign hasn't really got going yet! We have 23 acres of wheat in so far. We usually one pass the fields with an Amazone cultivator and packer roller, then drill with a Kvernland tine drill. But now, as wet, we will get the old wide pigtail cultivator out get some air in it, and then power Harrow and drill. We only use the plough as last resort because we have a big black grass problem. But I had to plough 28 acres as it was maize and combined, so tons of trash on top which needed burying. And as for rolling, we stopped doing that a few years ago as we find the amount of rain we get firm's up the land and if we need to will roll in the spring.

There are times where you just need to put your head down and get it done. And filming takes effort. Sometimes you just don't have the mentally energy to talk to people. Let alone a camera. Especially if you're under the weather. Hope you feel better soon. It sucks to have to work while you're sick.

IF...your interested in making tramlines or wanting to make them, there is a setting in the GPS which iv just used for potato planting, its called "Access paths" you set how wide you want the wheel marks to be in eg (200mm), then the width of your sprayer in swaths and she'll skip them all and then you fill in the middle of the skips after and have (200mm) each side Edit.. Actually I just realised that won't work if you had a 3m drill lol but it could for when you do spuds However there is also a tramlines setting in the system so🤷

Thanks for the comment ! Yes I have realised there’s a tramline in the gps screen , it’s a great screen with a lot of features, but I havnt had time to have a play round with it. It’s mainly the fact that I drill on rtx signal with one tractor and dad sprays with RTK on another it’s just matching up the tramlines when we pre em

We are dairying in Australia We are minimum till. No till is silly, as you said conditions mean that you have to do what you have to do to get seed in the ground to earn a living. IMO minimum till is the best attitude coz you don’t do tillage for sake of tillage, you do it coz it is necessary. I’m bloody sick of hearing zero this zero that! Minimise what we know isn’t ideal but do what works to produce the best outcome to produce food as efficiently as possible in the conditions you are working in.

Great to hear the channel is getting over seas ! Hope all is well over there 👍🏻 and really appreciate the views and visit to the channel ! Yes some methods of cultivating works better for others, but like you said , do what’s best for you and your farm ! Sadly this country is slowly forcing us farmers to practice “greener” approaches to farming/cultivation and not focusing on what produces the best yields. They just think we can import all our food 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
@tkinvy9750

@@fenfarming562 yeah we’re being told to change and that change is being driven by the consumer. Well when that consumer has no experience in the production of food they can virtue signal all they want but if we cannot produce as efficiently as possible which is what they’re demanding then cost of living will increase through scarcity. In my mind this is already happening as cost of living in the western world seems to be increasing
