This is my guitar. I bought it on Reverb two weeks ago. Imagine the spit take I just did when I turned on the latest Trogly episode. Yes! They didn't glue, they just screwed it straight into block and finished over to unify it. You missed two holes in 20th fret where the screws go in. I got it for 1800 after a partial refund for those unmentiined holes.Plays like a dream.

Mint is something one puts in tea. Me? I mod tf out of everything I own. Love seeing the players guitars. The crazy pickups and wiring… wood aged with sweat and tears… treasured and dragged along through someone’s journey… If someone has actually played a guitar for long enough to wear through the finish (not relic’d… that’s a whole other post), that guitar probably plays pretty nice. Players don’t keep and use guitars that don’t play well for very long.

That fretboard with the pearl and abalone V block inlays with the extra binding strips on the Les Paul signature looks like a guild fretboard, possibly off a Starfire VI or D-55 or something and that would explain the different scale

Figuring on the neck of the L5i was beautfiul. Not crazy about the colour, but the rest of the guitar looked great.... Apart from the price.

Would love to know the history on that first Les Paul Signature. Was it pieced together at the factory from spare parts, was it a custom order? That L5-S has some nice playing/gigging wear on it too. Thanks Trogly 👍

If LP signature still at the shop, I can take a look at it and send some more photos! My guess is that it was completely neck swapped before being refinished. It’s got some unorthodox screws to bolt the neck on but it’s a fantastic player

Les Paul Signatures are more like ES330s than ES335s as there isn't a full length center block. The "finish checking" on this example is probably the result of paint not adhering when it was refinished. That and the bolted on replacement neck are not good signs. The Les Paul Signatures of the '70s are great instruments. Not that many were made.

I can see the Ace Frehley part of that one Les Paul but I've rarely seen Frank Zappa with anything but an early 60s SG (I think it was a 63 or 64 ) it may have still had the Les Paul moniker attached to it I'm not sure. It was a rare thing to see him with anything but.

That L-5 is such a cool piece. 😊 I love what you do, love the channel and truly like watching, I get jealous but I sit down, take deep breaths and get through it.😂 I was just wondering if you had ever tried to get or had any info on Mike Nesmith’s missing guitars during the “end” of the Monkees. His original Gretsch 12 string (made for him for the show) and his Gibson SG custom.. it’s strange that these guitars have never surfaced.. just thought I’d ask. Thanks for what you do..
