Tenor 2 shouldn’t be thought of as second chair. It’s just tenor part that plays the lower part

@@besapods5539 im taking what you said too seriously. when I start writing jazz band charts, tenor 2 will play low range stuff as often as it will high range stuff. I'll have it double the bari sometimes

0:22 This section could benefit from giving the pianist a Rhodes electric piano for comping, and a synth bass keyboard for the unison sections with the actual bass/bassist. This can also work for Mike's take on Such Sweet Thunder.

5:23 to 5:34 this is just pure proof that the bari player in this recording refused to admit that lead trumpet has the cooler line at this part. i fucking LOVE lead trumpet at that part

I played this for my senior jazz on the alto and counting for this piece was pretty difficult since I had long rests pretty frequently 😅😅

Remembering how it sounds when you come in helps so you don’t have to sit there counting. Just remember the part right before as a little reminder where you are.

Hello, I got a problem, The dynamic contrast and volume contrast are two different things and the volume contrast isn't actually different. Probably due to it being done by an AI of some sorts. Best to get a live recording of this.
