Peter, your videos are expensive to watch. I'd rather not know about this stuff at this point...

For American buyers, getting one of these sets in Standard and the other on Metric creates a fantastic range of bit lengths, handles and socket sizes.

Hi New Brit Workshop, thanks for the demo. If I might add a bit of info that you might have missed. The short extension on the zyclops has an additional feature. Its also called a wobble extension which permits using the extension at an angle given to the shape of where it connects to the socket :)

It gets even better when you pronounce the name in it's native German: "Vera" (with English spelling). Maybe it's just me, but I feel strangely better working on my bike with a toolkit called "Vera". There's something comfortingly nostalgic about that name.

I often mis-pronouce names and for a long time referred to my Festool Kapex mitre saw as "Kay-pex" instead of the correct German prounciation "Kaa-pex". Cheers. Peter

Thanks Peter, I think you covered all the common situations to perfection. Unfortunately I seem to face the uncommon more than most and I wonder if you could clarify two things. Do all Wera hex bits lock straight into an impact driver (without the adapter) and, do they sell a deep socket set? My impact driver is my most used tool. I seldom experience overhead space problems that cannot be solved with a flexible connector so that Wera advantage is lost on me, but I do frequently need the deep socket. I'm suspect that its just that I go where others fear to thread. (excuse the pun but I could not resist)

Jeff Harmed Hi Jeff, Yes, you can put any of the hex bits in the end of your impact driver but I would advise you to use one of the Wera adapters as they really do make a huge difference. They do make adapters suitable for the rigours of impact drivers - I use them. Peter

Why do these tool kits skip socket sizes?
@NewBritWorkshop
4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim, If any sizes are missing it can only mean that they are not commonly needed. What size in particular concerns you? Peter
@tim.elkins

New Brit Workshop I agree that not all sizes are commonly needed, but they are all needed. Nothing more aggravating than to start a project,thinking you have everything needed,only to find out,you do not.All manufacturers do it in a lot of their kits.Getting harder to find kits with no missing sizes.

I used Wera screw drivers during the late 90's. At that time I also used Kew insulated screw drivers for electrical work. Needless to say I threw the Kew away after a couple of months and just insulated the Wera's so I can use them in domestic distribution boards and they worked great. I chased brick walls with them, abused them but to this day it is 10/1 the best set of screw drivers I ever had...Thanks Peter for the great review..

Thanks for your great video again, Peter. The sets from Wera are going more beautiful and smarter every year. Some years back I hat also bought a set from Wera, but after a couple months I hat rust on my bits and bit holder. I must say I was disappointed in Wera, for me at that time, a great product. Maybe I hat to go back to the store and tell about it, but it did not came of it, unfortunately. Do you think that rust is over now for products of Wera ? Sorry that I'm a little critical, Peter, I never booth something from Wera again. Henrie.

Hen Schum Hi Henrie, My workshop is not heated and can get a little damp at times. I have also used some of my Wera bits outside (fixing up the house) when it has been raining. I have no rust on any of my Wera kit. I do try and wipe off water if it has rained outside. If you are worried then use a little hard wax polish on things that you think might rust. If you ever have to do any maintenance on your chair then I would really recommend Wera. Peter

Woodey12 It is all so well made. I bought my original Toolcheck from a UK chain about 2 years ago and would find it difficult to survive without that tough little ratchet. The Zyklop Speed Ratchet is simply stunning and I am considering getting rid of all my sockets sets (3/8" and 1/2") and replace with Wera Zyklop sets. Many thanks. Peter

Hi Peter, i have a question that i can't find the answer on Wera's website: I wonder if bits provided with teh Wera ToolCheck Plus are made with the "lasertip" feature? (such as the screwdrivers 300 series) thank's for your answer!
@NewBritWorkshop

scubapit Gosh, I really do not know. I would offer to ask Wera the question but they still have not replied to my email when I told them that I had made the video - sorry. Peter
@alexandergomelsky

No, they are not, in fact, until today, they only have the lasertip on regular screwdrivers and not on any bit; they have some special bits with diamond particles, wich they say it grips better to the screws.

Peter, what do you think of the 98 piece centrotec set for the CSX? I'm torn as to whether to get centrotec stuff...or to get wera stuff to use with the CSX. I don't want to buy the wera bits and screwdrivers as well as festool....
@NewBritWorkshop
9 жыл бұрын
Yasir Qureshi Hi Yasir, I don't see Centrotec and Wera being an "either or" choice. For me Centrotec is focused on the drill drivers and Wera is my first choice for hand work. You can use both together without any problems. In you case, start with Centrotec and then, as the need arises, get the specific Wera kit to fill the gaps. Peter

andsowot Yes, Festool make the Compact Modular System (CMS) which consists of a frame with legs and a variety of inserts that fit on those legs. I have two units, one is the saw version know as the CMS-TS and in that I have my TS 55R saw. This saw can be taken out in about a minute and used like any other tracks saw. I love this setup and use it a lot. I also have the CMS-OF which takes any of the Festool routers (OF2200, OF1400 or OF1010). I have made videos about the CMS-TS and the CMS-OF. Peter

I wish Festool would make a dedicated table saw module for the CMS - I mean a dedicated saw machine with additional features such as push pull and external controls
