My uncle worked at Hinkle's donuts all his life. I lived right there on Tremainsville Rd at Gatehouse apartments in 1992. Was 10. 5th grade. Walked to school everyday to Wernert Elementary. Thanks for that. Seriously.

Spot on! Hinkle's Donuts was indeed the crown jewel of Wernert's Corners . . . and pretty much the only reason to go through that intersection.

I grew up on Trimble. My dad would take me to Hinkle's on Sunday after I was done with my paper route.

All those road slowly built just to get to the donut shop. The decline from it's own success as the traffic became to great to get into it. A tale as old as time.

I basically grew up at the Cypress bar next to the donut shop

Gas 6/7/22 = $5.39/gallon!! Over $70 dollars to fill up a little 13 gallon tank today!! I remember when it was under $1 per gallon ... it was usually somewhere between $0.69 and $0.89/gallon when I started driving!!

A lot of places are still here, the Marco's Pizza, the Sunoco station, Tom Cater Auto Sales, even the Shell, though it's now another gas station. Hinkle's sadly became part of a new Rite Aid Pharmacy on the corner.

The price for regular in Southern California in 1992 was around $1.48 gallon.

Worst intersection in Toledo. I had to sit at that light for half my life!!

I used to pass thru there almost everyday and the lights would drive me crazy. Then I started timing it and turns out they were on a 90-95 second cycle - roughly 3 tv commercials. So as long as you didn't have an idiot ahead of you not paying attention - it wasn't really that bad. I shudder to think what it would be like today with morons yammering on their cellphone instead of watching for the light to turn green. (left Toledo for good in 91)

I’ve never been to Toledo but I’d it wasn’t for you tube I would have never seen what Toledo in 1992 looked like, or those funny looking arrows on the traffic lights. Another thing is I never knew Marcos Pizza existed back then. It wasn’t until the mid 2000’s that I even heard of Marcos pizza. $1.12 for gas at Sams Club in Dothan Alabama last year summer of 2020 in the middle of the pandemic and $1.06 in Toledo in 1992. It’s crazy how much gas went down during the pandemic

Looks NOTHING like this now ... biggest tragedy is the loss of Hinkle Donuts!! God I miss that place. Hands down best donuts - period. You can at least still buy their 'authnetic' Bear Claws at Bakery Unlimited on Secor Rd - but I miss their chocolate straits and their soft powdered sugar donuts! Now their is a Rite Aid box store on the right, were Hinkle's and some other buildings once were, and a huge car wash on the left, where all those buildings near the construction trucks are sitting here. Marco's Pizza is still there at least ... its something.

I thought bakery unlimited had the entire donut selection. I haven't even had stuff from bakery unlimited in years. Some old lady ran into the front of the store a while back. Not sure what they are doing now. I think they are still open.

The worst designed intersection of any place I have ever visited. I used to live in West Toledo and had to drive through it everyday to work. Terrible for driving but used to love the area.
