Preserved 'Western' class 52 no.1015 'Western Champion' headed the 'Western Rocks' railtour on Saturday March 20th, 2010. Clips include the tour passing through damp and misty conditions on former 'Swinton & Knottingley Joint' metals at Frickley between Sheffield and Pontefract. The tour originated at Bristol and after passing the camera, swung off the S&K at South Kirby Junc to cross the Pennines via Wakefield, Huddersfield and Stockport. It then visited Buxton and Edale before returning south. The second clip shows the unique 'Western' departure from Derby with the driver quite happy to "give her the lot" almost from a standing start. The Western does indeed rock!
