It's bitter sweet watching videos like this. I live not far from Cumberland, MD and Ridgeley, WV where the rail yard is. 734 is sitting there rusting in the elements.

2:00. I've never seen that in my life and I've been obsessed with steam locos for 29 years (my age). I've watched thousands of hours of footage and spent thousands of hours riding behind and photographing steam. I have my own miniature loco that I drive but I've never seen the steam coming out of different sides of the funnel depending on which cylinder it came out of. I've never spotted 734 doing it before either. Weird.

I partook in the Trains magazine photocharter a few weekends ago and we shot at the new spot known as Gardners meadow where the landslide was in 2016. I was curious what it looked like prior as they told us it was all woods. Ive been also watching your videos again lately to plan for my chases later in the year, and i came across this video. And after watching this video, i see you shot the spot back then! It is right at 2:48. I used the green bridge as a reference as i remembered seeing it on the charter! Hope to bump into you at the valley or Western Maryland this year!

There is a Hancock back on her now, or at least at the end of this season. The bad sounding whistle was, I think, used on the Western Maryland 4-8-4's. They did not take the other whistle, which was the Hancock you hear in the video, off on purpose. I'm told the person who owned it wanted it back. Again, I've been following WMSRR for years, this is the best video I've ever seen of the old girl! Well Done, dferg!

@@chendersonrailproductions704 what videos explain where it came from and what type of whistle it is? Ik it's a Hancock Long Bell 3 Chime but I'd like to know if it's of Western Maryland Heritage.

And also, what is the deal with the geeps shoving on the caboose, I have always heard that it was against operating rules on any railroad.

.... shoving the caboose seems to be ok if the caboose has a steel frame......you should be able to see many examples on videos, such as PRR Horseshoe Curve ...........

nice whistle, nice bark, whats with the stupid diesel on the rear?
@gullreefclub
5 жыл бұрын
LS6Z28 Diesel Locomotives cut the insurance costs because of air and dynamic brakes, if they run on any main line they have electronics to communicate back to track surveillance center so a runaway is not reported as well as providing power for lights and climate control.
