I tested twenty different wet glues to determine which was best. I tested them for instant stickiness and hold, as well as whether or not the glue dried invisibly or tacky, as both are things that don't appeal to me. I wanted to make sure you could determine if a glue would work for a project that needed the glue to work immediately like hot glue. Also, I considered price in my decision as well I don't discuss ultimate hold, because all of the glues did the same.
I discuss fine tip applicators, and whether or not they work for me and if so, which ones I recommend.
1.Crystal Effects (a glue that makes the surface shiny) 2 oz Amazon $4.61
2.Elmer's No Wrinkle Rubber Cement (really smells unpleasant) for 4oz (this is accurate) for $2.39 at Joann's
3.Scotch's Less Mess School Glue 50 cents for 4 oz. at Walmart during back to school
4.Staple's Washable School Glue 50 cents for back to school 4 oz.
5.Tombow Mono Liquid Glue $2.99 for .88 oz at Joanns (has two tips).
6.Tombow Mono Aqua Glue 1.69 oz for $2.99 at Joanns (has dual tips).
7.Martha Stewart Permanent Glue 4 oz for $3.05 at Walmart.com.
8.Aleene's Tacky Glue- $1.99 4 oz at Joanns.
9.Aleene's Tack it Over and Over--super tacky when dry so it makes great glue dots. My favorite use is for on the back of red rubber stamps. I don't use the foam layer, and just put small dots on the back. 4 oz at Joanns $2.69 full price.
10. Aleene's Clear Tacky Glue 4 oz $3.49 at Joanns..
11. Mod Podge Gloss- $6.99 for 8 oz at Joanns. You can make your own Mod Podge with white glue and water, check the internet for the recipe.
12. Scotch's Scrapbooking Glue--dual tip. $4.19 for 1.6 oz., not sure where I found that price.
13.Easy Paper Glue by Leeho--found it at a stamp show for $1 for 1.85 oz.
14. Beacon's 3 in 1 glue-- Has an odor that isn't pleasant. Walmart.com price was $9.09 for 4 oz and $13.19 for 8 oz.
15.Art Glitter Glue--you can buy a fine tip applicator with this glue and it works really well for me. $8.41 for 2 oz or 8 oz for $19.97 at Amazon.
16. Diamond Glaze-made to be shiny when dry. $4.45 for 2 oz at Joanns.
17.Glossy Accents 2 oz for $4 at Stuff4Crafts.com Is made to be glossy when dry.
18. Best Glue Ever-- decanted into a fine tip applicator from Tillysbridge www.zibbets.com/tillybridge, not sure if they are still in business. 2 oz at Joanns for $5.99
19. PPA --Perfect Paper Adhesive 7.9 oz for $7.84 at Amazon, made I believe to use on books and book making.
20. Stampin' Up Fine Tip Glue--comes in a fine tip applicator bottle. Lydia Fiedler is the Stampin' Up representative that sent me a bottle for free . $7 for 1 oz. If you don't have a Stampin' Up representative, please contact Lydia Fiedler for this glue. Here is her contact information. www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/understandblue/
My top choices for wet glues:
1 Martha Stewarts Permanent Glue--dries invisibly, not overly expensive and great initial stick. Dries with no tackiness. Runny enough to be easily spread.
2. Staples Washable School Glue--not shiny when dry and very inexpensive, Not very tacky up front, but it's price makes it a top contender.
3. PPA Perfect Paper Adhesive--not initially sticky, but dries completely invisible. Is archival and permanent.
4. Best Glue Ever- very slight shine when dry. You need very little on your project, very sticky right up front, which is a great plus and it's very runny.
Fine Tip Applicators:
1. Stampin' Up Fine Tip Glue--easiest fine tip applicator to use. Fast adhesive, runny, but dries so you can see it.
2. Art Glitter Glue--The add-on tip works well with this glue because it's so runny, but it does dry so you can see it.
After testing twenty one glues, the thing that I found the most difficult to achieve was invisibility once dry.
