Make a wet paint carrier out of foam core and duct tape. Use it to transport wet paintings, or ship dry ones to hot, humid places when you don't want anything touching your painting surface.
1. Measure and cut foam core top and bottom and sides of a box, to fit your painting.
2. Make sure you measure the sides of the box to be a tiny bit larger than you need, to allow for swelling of the foam core if it gets hot and humid.
3. Measure two strips of foam core to tape or glue to the long sides, inside your box. Leave a gap that is slightly larger than the height of your painting panel.
4. Use packing tape to secure the two strips to the box sides, in case the glue or double sided tape gets hot and melts.
5. Assemble the box, except for one short end.
6. For the short end, score a piece of foam core to make a flap that will act as a dust cover for your box.
7. Use duct tape to tape everything in place. I do this because it solidifies the structure.
8. Use a rubber band to secure the dust cover shut on your box.
9. If shipping or transporting, be sure to set your box inside another sturdy packaging. This box will provide an air gap above your painting surface, but it is not sturdy enough to mail as is.
