Interesting interview. I think Tim Martin has worked extremely hard to build a successful business from scratch and provides a good example for others to follow.

Not enough follow up questions. Nothing about Wetherspoons hotels, the best in the market.

Never really knew much about Sir Tim(bo) before watching this, suffice it to say he's gone up in my estimation.

Hello Sir Tim. We have a connection. I also read law at uni and flirted with a career at the Bar. Then EGON RONAY got hold of both of us!

Prescient thinking on the EU. He stands vindicated, in that the UK has been consistently outperforming the rest of the EU since leaving it. Germany alone is in perma-recession.

Nice interview, but still suffering the consequences of a terrible brexit, the damage to so many companies revenue. I remember the interviews Tim was in about food and drink being cheaper post Brexit. Now the government has forecast the food consignment charges will cost British firms about £330m per year. The Office for Budget Responsibility May forecast is that the ‘Trade and Cooperation Agreement’ (TCA) that came into effect on 1 January 2021, will reduce long-run productivity by 4 per cent relative to remaining in the EU. Such a shambles.

@@Dinobears not a single report has ever suggested brexit has been overall good for the UK economy, not even the pro brexit previous administration has suggested it has been overall positive. More friction to businesses and almost worthless trade deals.

Tell this to all the people who lost their properties and businesses because we joined the European exchange rate mechanism in late 80s early 90’s disastrous

There hasn't been a single verified negative effect of exiting the sclerotic EU. You cannot just re-badge negative effects of Covid, the Russian Invasion, and the 2022/23 inflation as somehow related to exiting the EU. Remember that the UK has been consistently outperforming the rest of the EU since leaving it.

I used to regularly use his pubs and book hotels for myself and my workforce for contracts we had around the country. However, once he started to promote Brexit we boycotted his businesses as our protest (and will never use them again.) May not be a big sum to him but he no longer gets our annual £30 - £40 000 we used to spend there. My FU to him!
