@@AlenaMcKenzie i do live in another location -- it just makes me mad to see people romanticizing/normalizing paying this much in rent because it makes it seem like it's acceptable or a possibility for everyone. I have the same amount of space with 2 balconies for less than half this rent. The ghetto is such a rip-off. Buttttt the decor is amazing, you guys do have a great sense of style. I guess if location is worth it too (seems so if the plateau is next). But I live 5 min from a station and so can get downtown in under 20 minutes. Anyone coming to the city, please know this isn't average at all. Mtl has some of the cheapest rent in North America.

You have such a cool apartment! I applied to McGill for this fall and I know McGill looks at grades for acceptances. Since you are a student from the US, do you remember if they looked at your grades based of the Canadian or U.S. grading scale?

im also planning to apply to McGill and this information can be found on the website. there a section to look at the requirements to get in and the requirements are different depending on what type of high school you went to. since you go to a US high school they will look at your grades based off of the US grading scale. (the requirements are basically the same for each one just translated to what the grading system is)

@@AlenaMcKenzie yes, it's expensive because of people (mostly foreign students) accepting high rents like this. and it is getting more and more expensive all over the city. Please try and do a lease transfer when you leave, so the landlord doesn't have the chance to increase the rent. Every time a student leaves the city and doesn't transfer the lease, the landlords have the opportunity to boost the rent as much as they like. if you do lease transfer, the rent has to stay the same. We're in a housing crisis and people keep romanticizing the 'ghetto' while entire neighbourhoods and communities are collapsing under gentrification.

Hey! I had a quick question about living in Montreal; I'm from the states (Ohio) so I'm used to weather that's generally warmer than Montreal, and I think I prefer warmer weather over colder weather. However, I really love Montreal and hope to go to McGill for college. So, do you think that the cold weather becomes bearable and/or is worth it for the warmer months?
@tiffanydawson1381

100% worth it for the warmer months. The winter months are so filled with studies that outside of the school commute you’d likely not notice. The summer is incredible!

I’m from Montreal and the key is to go out. If you stay in, you may get used to the specific weather only at the end of the season, which will make your life sad. There are a lot of activities to do in winter too. Just make sure to have a good winter jacket and winter (water proof) boots. But yeah, the summer is packed with extra life (because a lot of Canadians hibernate) so you’ll be able catch up easily if you can’t stand the cold :)

This is my true horrific experience that happened to me renting apartments in Montreal, i had to look for a new apartment to rent due to having to leave my apartment i was at due to fire damages that was caused by another tentant in apartment complex,anyhow i soon there after found a new apartment,this new apartment was renting for $1100.00 it had just been renovated and really nice and clean,however my horrific experience was just about to get much worse,just at the time the covid19 outbreak came around i was settling into my new apartment and really happy i had found a new place,so i thought...i soon began feeling very sick in this apartment and i kept trying to figure out why i was feeling this way,well to keep this short,i found out after 5 months and becoming really sick that drug dealers had rented and set up a crystal meth lab in an apartment agent to my mine and the fumes from cooking or making this crystal meth drug had been seeping into my apartment and getting me very very sick, still today i have lingering bad symptoms do to the meth poisoning, i have seen doctors and explained to them about my bad experience,i have persistance symptoms of lung problems, sinuses and bad migrains,i found out the chemical these drug dealers were using to make or cook this crystal meth was called Ether,Ether is a mix of sulfuric acid and alcohol along with other very toxic dangerous chemicals,however the Ether chemical mix has a very deceiving sweet smell not a bad smell which makes it deceiving to the sense of smell leaving you thinking how wounderful the air smells around one, because Ether is very difficult to detect in the air because it blends well with other smells,chances are one becomes poisoned before figuring out, if you`ve rented apartments before you know you will have all kinds of new smells around,how i found out there was a crystal meth lab next to my apartment is another story,by that time i had found out i had been poisoned really bad, but what was just as bad as getting poisoned sick is that when meth contamination seeps into apartments,everything becomes contaminated,i mean everything,from cloths to furniture,tv bed,frigo ect ect to the smallest objects,everything nothing escapes,i couldn`t take anything with me due to meth residue contamination,these meth lab residue spores are really really bad,they will linger in everything for years and continue making one very sick, it is very very hard to wash or get rid of,i had to dispose of everything i had,thousands of dollars lost,all my belongings,it was horrible so horrible,the land lord of the building had no idea this was going on and only later to find out, from what i have found out,these dangerous meth lab apartments are quite common,real scary,i rent from a friend now and will never again rent from strangers,i still feel sick with lasting bad symptoms and fearing for my health over time,please i would like to know if any readers reading this had similar experience,please feel free to reply,the Ether mix is of sulfuric acid and alcohol making it very toxic and poisonous,very hard to detect it`s fumes in the air because of it`s sweet smell plus these fumes and spores could travel long distance if in buildings,buildings where meth labs were set up are health risks for all tenants in building,other chemicals also used are ammonia and acetone in the making of crystal meth,Renters beware.

I don't mean to be rude, but if you want to do an apartment tour, don't talk about the price! The issue is that it's not normal to pay that amount for what you have. McGill ghetto is expensive only because International students are able to afford the ridiculous prices of the apartments, which locals are often not able to. By normalizing a ridiculous rent in your video, it legitimates excessive pricing and it creates inflation for the whole city, think about Vancouver or Toronto. There's a housing crisis here, lots of people can't find a home, please be sensible and get informed!

Hey! I really appreciate your response, and I understand that international students like myself are contributing to the raising rents in montreal.
