Thanks Scott. Literally every field here in Perthshire you’ve a chance of finding items as far back as 4,000 years ago! I should add…. I rarely do 😂 but that chance is what makes it interesting 🤔

The buckle is by a company called Sword Make. I wasn't able to find very much on them other than a couple other different style of buckles that have been found. Time frame seems to be mid to late 1800s to early 1900s. I found 1 picture on the National Trust's site on a pair of knee-length breeches, and they have a buckle with the same serial number.

There were no cartridge bullets before 1850. The "ring" in this case is called a cannelure groove, and it was used to crimp the case into, to hold the bullet in place, and seal it. That bullet looks like it was possibly for a Webley revolver. (about 1915).

I actually address the misconception of the title of Sir Arthur Conan's book "Hound of the Baskervilles" in my book "Murder Book". People assume it's more than one hound, and they assume that Baskerville is a place. It isn't. The HOUND, is one. A singular hound. The Baskervilles were people. (GREAT find by the way) love to see dogs and toads in a film.

I strangely enough operated the At Pro for 8 years before I got older and wiser. I now got Nox800 and Orx. Anyway, on 14:00 I can clearly hear that he uses the program "Standard Coin" This program is hopeless. The whole machine is hopeless really but you got to go in the Pro Zero program. Full sensitivity and disc on 26 (ish). I have found lots of cool stuff with my At Pro but changing machine was like changing hobby. I can now go detect all my old fields yet again. The Nox rocks!

The mic did it's job perfectly.. Oh, your 8m coin, you couldn't have dropped it a third time John, you already did it three times, your counter was out of kelter. Imagine the kinetic energy it took to flatten those bullets, Ouch!! Loved that razor part, tho to give you credit, it did look like some kind of buckle! You worry too much about the microphone, it always sounds fine. You can put a little sock thing over it if you want to cut down on wind noise, a lot of KZitemrs use inexpensive clip on mics with a cover for the wind. But it sounds fine, stop worrying about it! I suppose when you've dug the field a lot, digging deeper makes sense, if there's a hoard there someplace it would make sense that it would be buried somewhat deep, right? You'll find it!

Gorgeous silver!!! I live in Aberdeenshire and find the Met Office forecasts are worse than useless - and the BBC forecasts are dreadful too.
