Petite refers to height being 5’3 or under, not thin!!!! Ive never seen a tall thin woman shop for petite clothes and petite clothes come in 0-plus sizes. The clothes are hemmed shorter for petite sizing. Brandy melville is not for all petite girls, just skinny girls🤷🏾♀️

I have an unpopular opinion, but its the same as there are stores specifically for plus size women, brandy is a store specifically for more thin women. I personally am a size 00 and its hard sometimes to find clothes that fit me well, brandy is one of the few stores that most of their stuff fits me really great. So while I get peoples frustration that they don't cater to plus size women, its also very frustrating for thin girls to not be able to shop at stores meant for plus size women or really to find clothes that fit well anywhere

For YEARS I struggled with body image because I’d go to stores and their smallest size was baggy and too big on me and I couldn’t find anything that fit, and I thought something was wrong with me, and it’s important to remember there are skinny girls that are self-conscious about being “too skinny,” and Brandy is probably just trying to give clothes that fit to those girls too. Just like there are stores out there meant for larger body types, Brandy Melville is just a store for smaller body types, and I don’t see anything wrong with that.

I am from the uk Sio there is much less range of clothing in brandy Melville. I am 1 4 and I am more of an hour glass shape (very different to my petite friends ) I have been to brandy Melville and personaly I think some of there clothes are very cute and good if you want to blend in and they are basic. I have a few items from there. however when I ever I go and see something I like and try in on it is very unfortunate as having a larger bust the clothes tend to become shorter and they are already made for girl who are smaller and so it is basically the length of a bra with is very annoying. uk brandy Melville is also very bad as they cater to one size however in Europe I have been to there shops and they have clothes in xs, s , m , l witch is much better I do not like there one size thing because when you try it one and it doesn't fit its like what I thought this would fit as it is one size foot all and it can make people feel very bad about themselves. Yes. But their marketing strategies are the issue. I see no problem in a one size brand, but I see an issue In: 1. No diversity. Most models and workers are white and blonde. 2. They don’t market towards “smaller or petite women,” they market more towards teenagers and young adults in some cases. And that size range is COMPLETELY over the place. 3. Their models aren’t healthy looking. Most are very underweight. Take American Eagle for example, their models have diversity (all skin colours and tones) and their bodies are REAL. The naturally skinny, thicker girls, plus size, athletic, EVERY ONE. I shop from brands like that. ✊

People in the comments talking about how damaging it is for a store to only cater to a specifically small size, but remember- not all females who are size 00 WANT to be that small or smaller. They may have the same body image issues as someone who feels overweight and can't fit into "standard" clothing in "normal" stores. This store gives those girls an option. Now individual designs that cater to one body type or another is one thing, but if every piece in every collection every season every year is only considered good on one set of measurements, then the designer is showing limited ability in their work. If that's the message that you got from this video then you clearly didn't watch most of this video or any of Sierra's other videos. If you do watch her videos, then you must not listen very well because that's not what anyone was saying. Sierra never thought there was anything wrong with catering specifically to skinny girls. Obviously everyone needs clothes and I understand that it could be difficult to find clothes everywhere. However, if a store wants to do this, then they should advertise themselves as a petite clothing brand. Brandy does not do this, and instead claims to be "one size fits all." By them only making a size xs/s and saying that it should fit everyone, this is purposefully excluding every other size and making people think that their size isn't normal or right. This makes girls of other sizes feel ugly, or fat, even if they are just a size medium. Plus size stores on the other hand are marketing and advertising themselves as for larger people. They don't claim to be "one size fits all" they are simply trying to represent people that are typically not represented. Another problem with Brandy is that their clothes are not actually any smaller or more fit to petite girls than a size xs/s would be at any other store. If Brandy was making clothes in like a 00 or 000 which are rarer sizes, and marketing themselves as a petite store than maybe the argument of including smaller sizes could be relevant. However they don't do that rendering any argument of "inclusivity to skinny people" utterly irrelevant and incorrect. Any size you buy there I guarantee you that you could buy at Target, except at Target it would have inclusive size tags and a much lower price. Everyone deserves love, you were right about that, but if you really wanted that, then you would actually listen and try to comprehend what people like Sierra are trying to say. Companies like Brandy are most definitely not trying to spread positivity, love or inclusivity.

plus-sized stores sell multiple sizes because plus-size isn’t ‘one size’. skinny also isn’t ‘one size’. this is just laziness, and the fact that they use younger models for their demographic (there have been accounts of a majority of models used being 13-15, predominantly 14) + market towards those with the highest demographic of developing EDs + the elitist attitude that comes with shopping there + the unethical production/low quality of a lot of their products... bro, at least plus-sized stores advocate for confidence with your body and don’t try to market towards fucking teenagers/glorify a body type that is likely unattainable for most of the market.

Rather than saying petite I really think they should just say it’s for smaller sizes since most retail stores don’t cater to those that are very small or small in general. Petite isn’t a xs-s it’s just someone under 5’4 so it gets people’s hopes up

Mandy Preach. Being stick thin doesn’t equal being healthy, strong, or fit. Most super thin people I know never even try, they don’t go to the gym, or eat well, it’s just their body type. So the next time @Ivoyant wants to judge someone they can think about every factor that goes into being healthy. Healthy isn’t thin. Healthy isn’t obese either, but she is not obese. And she’s eating well and working out so you can never put someone down for trying to get healthier, even if they don’t lose weight. Health comes from within not from what you look like without. So keep opinions to yourself.

I definitely think they're catering to "skinny", not petite, and that's not a good message. Even then, the items are not all gonna fit right on a "skinny" body. A friend of mine's body type is taller and skinny, but half that stuff probably would've been a crop top when it should've been a regular shirt. Just producing different sizes, even XS to XL, would make such a huge difference! Until they do that, I won't be dropping a penny on their inventory. (Also, thrifting is just more fun and special!)

@@ilianastenovitch the thing is, us skinny people have a lot of stores that cater to us. @@ilianastenovitch That's fair, but when you think about it, almost every store caters to a smaller body and pushes that image onto younger people. Kat Jo people keep saying how many brand cater to smaller sizes, but I feel like people think just having a size small is enough. Idk why but I never fit into clothes in normal stores, the proportions are way off. Brand Melville clothes fit like a true small or XS, which can feel amazing when I usually feel like my body is messed up because of my proportions. I understand people’s frustration in the lack of size diversity, but it’s really nice to have a store that really fits me. It can feel degrading when you fit in little kids jeans better than women’s, it’s nice to have real clothes you know

@ingridmyers2708

I feel like being tall and skinny makes it REALLY difficult to find clothes. My inseam is 32” and most jeans brands don’t carry that length, and if they do it’s usually their “tall” size and even then the waist usually doesn’t go below a 29” (this is true for Madewell, among others). Additionally, I am a size small in tops, but most size smalls assume that the rest of you is also very small so the arms and shoulders/bust of shirts is super uncomfortable but if I size up the shirt just looks too big and I lose my shape. With dresses the smaller you go the shorter they get so I just have to sacrifice the proper fit of the dress to not show my butt. I have the same breakdowns and shopping struggles as many others and it bothers me that people always say “oh well everything is made for tall and skinny people” because it’s not. Sizes are done proportionally where in smalls everything is small and in a size large everything gets equally larger, when not all bodies are like that. I think clothing is just hard to make for everyone and hard to shop for. I think Brandy Melville’s problem lies in their branding, if they specifically targeted size smalls and said “look we made this for you” not as many people would mind, idk why they don’t. I’ve had really good luck buying clothes from them and very few other places, plus it’s all made in Italy which is nice. I get the frustration though, I just wish they marketed differently.

Brandy Melville is a store for thin, petite girls. That's kind of the entire idea of the store, just like torrid is for plus size women who have trouble finding cute plus size clothes, brandy is for small girls who have trouble finding cute small clothes. Believe it or not it's actually really hard to find xs clothes, most stores don't carry that size anymore because americans are getting bigger. I get how a "one size fits small" store can be harmful to impressionable teens, but at the same time I don't get why someone who isn't a size small/xs would even go to that store when they know none of it will fit them. There's nothing wrong with not fitting into petite clothing, but there's really no point in complaining about something not fitting you that clearly wasn't made for your body type.

Because when you’re a teenager. Other girls can be really mean and awful. When all of your friends are wearing brandy and you are the only one who can’t because they only have one size. That is really hard on you. For example say a group of friends went to the mall and they went to brandy and They all got cute matching outfits and you couldn’t get it cause it didn’t fit you and you couldn’t size up. That is absolutely deviating . I understand it’s hard to find those really small sizes but they should still have sizes that rang alittle. Like go up to a medium or something. The marketing and mindset of brandy is not okay and very hurtful to so many girls. Especially their main demographic being teen girls who think that they have to fit into those tiny sized clothes to feel cool and fit in with their friends. And not be left out.

I don’t understand going into a store that’s one size fits small and just complaining that nothing fits. Not all stores have to be inclusive. We’ve got plus size store catering to curvy woman, what’s the problem with a store catering to smaller women? I’ve never been a tiny woman. I hover between a med and a large, so if I see a store like this I don’t stop. I shop at places I know are meant for me.

I’m gonna say that when I was in middle school, I was really skinny and couldn’t gain weight. Which may not sound like a problem but it was getting to be a problem because I couldn’t “eat enough” to put on weight because that would be unhealthy too. So seeing a store that caters to young and small girls isn’t a bad message (in my opinion.) I get not everyone is the same body type so definitely “one size fits all” isn’t going to work but bashing a company because it doesn’t cater to everyone’s body is unfair. Also think about how everyone knows that when they walk into Brandy Melville, they know what to expect. That set them apart from other clothing stores...was it the best strategy, maybe not but it got them well known so it worked for them.

Their dresses looked way too long and most of their pants didn’t really fit me correctly. Additionally, some of the shirts that were meant to be cropped ended up just being normal t-shirts on me. I really only went there to buy their plaid skirts since I really liked them, but now that I have the two skirts and the embroidered white t-shirt I wanted, I doubt I’ll go back to get more basics. I could easily go back to a different store that has more inclusive sizing with basics that are very similar. I definitely think that this shows that they don’t really cater to petite sizing and that their clothes are really just meant for smaller sized girls

I don’t understand what’s so bad about the one size. There’s stores just for plus size girls/women. Why can’t there be stores for smaller girls/women. It’s not like the clothes that’s sold there you can’t find anywhere else.

In the last video when they said that they were going to do a vid on a store that had a small size range I immediately thought "Brandy"😂

Great videos, but I would like Sierra to explain how this store discriminates and Torrid doesn't. Maybe there is a logical reason??

not trying to start an argument but i shop at brandy and will continue to shop there. you talk about body positivity, but shame brandy melville for having clothes catering to us skinny and petite girls. there is other plus size stores, and sometimes an extra small at a normal store doesn’t fit me or other girls built like me. i don’t think you should bash companies like this for having cute clothes that are an option to me other than kids size, which i don’t want to wear.

I just don’t understand who brandy Melville is selling to, I’m so confused by this store 😂 who is their demographic? (I’ve never seen this store before your channel) god I have so many questions about this place 😂

I think 12 to 19 is the age range, so middle/high schoolers. But honestly with the styles of clothes they carry I have no idea who they are trying to reach.

Lucy Ann it makes me think of kids who want to shop at urban outfitters, but their parents want them in justice.

Why is it okay but there are stores that carry just plus-size clothes but it's not okay for Brandy Melville to jus carry t small clothes?

They do realize that these items of clothing aren’t meant for two adult women, they’re meant for petite teens, it bothers me that they say things like “it fits, but not in the way I want it to.”

I think people need to chill about Brandy. No one has EVER hated on a plus-size store, and people need to realize that skinny people have confidence issues too! Brandy is like a plus-size store for skinny or petite girls. It's okay for a store to cater to smaller women who maybe can't fit into the smallest size at some stores! Now I know people say that it's not okay because it advertises as "one size," but it doesn't say "one size fits all" and everyone knows it caters to tiny girls/women. I'm just saying smaller people have insecurities too, and just like someone shouldn't hate on a plus-size store, people shouldn't hate on Brandy as much as they do! I'm not hating on the video, I like Sierra, but people would be pissed if someone said some of these things about a plus-size store. Also, they do say "One size fits small" so people just need to relax. As a smaller girl, I can say I do struggle with finding clothes that fit, so I like the idea of a store for smaller girls who can't quite fit into a typical size "Small."

i see that people say that brandy is a petite store, but yet the models are all tall? petite also means 5’3 or under, not just skinny. not hating on brandy, just confused. i don’t have a problem with stores catering to petite women, but it’s weird that the people modeling for them don’t necessarily fit the targeted audience
